BENELOGIC ANNOUNCES ONE MILLION “LIVES” MILESTONE
Online Benefits Enrollment Grows More Than 4,000 Percent Since 2001 Benefits Administrator to Showcase Technology and Service Upgrades During Open Enrollment Season TIMONIUM, Md. September 10, 2003 – Benelogic, a leading provider of intuitive software applications designed to simplify employee benefits administration and increase profitability, announced today an important milestone in its three-year history. During this fall’s open enrollment season, a period when employee benefits enrollment is at its highest level, Benelogic will be supporting more than one million employees, or “lives”, as they enroll for their 2004 benefits. According to research conducted by Hewitt Associates (NYSE: HEW), a global HR outsourcing and consulting firm, the percentage of employees enrolling via the Internet has almost doubled in three years. Leading this surge is Benelogic, which has grown the number of employees it supports by more than 4,000 percent in that amount of time. During open enrollment in 2001, Benelogic collected and transmitted benefits data for about 23,000 employees. This year’s high water mark of one million employees illustrates Benelogic’s rapid growth. “This milestone validates the fact that an increasing number of employers and government entities are outsourcing employee benefits administration,” commented S. Stuart Spector, chief operating officer of Benelogic. “By simplifying the benefits administration process, we are helping our customers and insurance carriers increase productivity, enhance communication and ultimately reduce cost. Based upon the demand for our services, we see this trend continuing well into the future.” Typically, companies designate an enrollment period each year when employees can elect their benefits coverage for the next plan year. The exchange of information during this period is challenging for employers and insurance companies because it is a paper-based process requiring manual data entry. Benelogic automates the exchange of benefits data between employers and insurance carriers, a process that ensures accuracy and data integrity. Currently, Benelogic transmits data to more than 100 insurance companies. A key driver of Benelogic’s success is that it allows clients to leverage their existing investment in human resources software applications and payroll infrastructure. Over the past year, Benelogic has made new technology and service upgrades in anticipation of this year’s open enrollment season. In November 2002, Benelogic implemented storage area network technology from Dell/EMC. The expanded capacity can easily accommodate data for one million employees and planned future growth. The Dell/EMC storage network resides in Benelogic’s data center in Timonium, Md.
