Argo Group Names Thomas A. Poland as VP to Head New Inland Marine Insurance Unit [Professional Services Close – Up]

Argo Group International Holdings, an international underwriter of specialty insurance and reinsurance products, announced that Thomas A. Poland has joined Argo Group as vice president to head the new Inland Marine unit of Colony Specialty.
The company's broad portfolio of Inland Marine products will include: customer goods in transit, motor truck cargo legal liability, contractor's equipment, rigger's liability, builder's risk and renovation projects, installation floaters, commercial output policies, warehouse legal liability, and a variety of floaters.
According to a release, previously, Poland served as regional marine product line manager at Seneca / Crum & Forster and has held similar roles at Fireman's Fund Insurance and Reliance Insurance. In his new role, he will be based in Colony Specialty's Alpharetta, Georgia office.
"We are excited about expanding Colony Specialty's suite of products to include Inland Marine, and very pleased to have Tom join our team to lead that charge," said Michael Fleischer, chief underwriting officer, excess and surplus lines. "Tom's recognized expertise and market knowledge will help give us immediate traction in the Inland Marine market."
Colony Specialty is the brand name that refers to a group of U.S. licensed excess and surplus lines insurers with Argo Group.
