Text: On 12-19-11 at approximately 1740 hrs AST responded to a report of an MVC involving two vehicles near Mile 88 of the Parks Hwy in Talkeetna. Investigation revealed that the driver of one vehicle, Frieda Becker age 63 of Willow was intoxicated. Becker was placed under arrest for DUI, then refused to submit to a chemical test. Text: On 12-19-11, at 1540 hours, during a traffic stop on a pickup truck for a moving violation at Mile 47 Parks Hwy, Wasilla, AST/ BHP contacted the pickup driver, John D Nagel, age 24, of Wasilla. A record check revealed an outstanding felony warrant for Nagel's arrest. Nagel was taken into custody. A relative responded to the scene and took custody of Nagel's truck. Text: On 12/18/2011, at approximately 1229 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence off of Royal Lane, near Wasilla, for a report of a deceased male. Investigation revealed John Robert Kennedy, age 72, of Wasilla died of natural causes inside his residence. No foul play is suspected. State Medical Examiner's office responded to the scene and Alaskan Heritage Memorial Chapel responded for the body. Next of kin was on scene.

Text: On 12/18/11 at approximately 1800 hours the Alaska State Troopers in St. Mary's

Received a report of a stabbing in Mountain Village. A severe ground storm with high winds and blizzard conditions hampered a response to the village from St. Mary's. On 12/19/11 when troopers responded to investigate it was revealed that 3 individuals of the same household

Received injuries caused from an altercation involving a knife. Two individuals were medevacced on 12/19/11 as their wounds were severe enough to be addressed at the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Center in Bethel. No names are being released at this time pending the determination of the aggressor in this incident. All persons involved were highly intoxicated from drinking home-brew alcohol to the level of being blacked out at the time the assault occurred. The investigation is ongoing.

Initial findings suggested that her death was not induced by any foul play, but her remains are being sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office, in Anchorage, for an autopsy. An investigation continues.

Text: On 12/12/2011 at about 1647 hours Anchor Point based wildlife troopers came in to contact with an unoccupied Chevrolet pickup truck parked partially in the roadway near mile 161 of the Sterling Highway.

While checking the area, Troopers came in to contact with Dale Griner (age 52, of Anchor Point) several hundred yards in to the woods from the vehicle. Griner stated he was hunting in the area and was in possession of a deceased lynx which he had taken by rifle. Griner did not have his 2011 hunting license in his possession. Griner was issued a $250.00 bailable citation for hunting without license in possession, warned about parking his vehicle on the roadway and released at the scene.

Johnson was found to be fishing personal use shrimp gear which was not marked with a first initial, last name, address, and boat registration number, as required by regulation.

Text: On 12/20/11, Anthony Balovich and Gregory Bartolaba both of Sitka, pled guilty in Sitka District Court to one count each of taking big game (deer) from a boat and unlawful possession and transportation. Each of the men were fined a total of $1800 with $1300 suspended, ordered to pay $400 each for restitution to the State, and were placed on probation for one year. Both men's hunting privileges were revoked for 6 months and the two illegally taken deer were forfeited.

Text: On 12/19/11Tudor U. Wheeler, age 29, of Nome, AK pled guilty to one consolidated count of Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree in the Nome Superior Court. Wheeler was one of nine suspects that were distributing Oxycodone in Nome in 2009 and 2010.

Wheeler's plea included a minimum of 7 years of jail with 3 years suspended and 4 years of probation. His sentencing is scheduled for 3/26/12.

Text: On 12/17/11 at 1936 hours AST Bureau of Highway Patrol Northern Team responded to a single vehicle crash near Mile Post 8 Steese Highway. Investigation revealed that James Wilson (40 YOA, Fairbanks) was driving his 2003 Ford pickup south bound on the Steese Highway and lost control as he was attempting to pass a vehicle when the highway widened to two south bound lanes. Wilson's truck struck the guard rail, rode on top of the guard rail and then rolled on to its side in the ditch. Wilson's passengers were identified as Bambi Wilson (35 YOA, Fairbanks) and their 13 year old son. No injures were reported and alcohol is not a factor. Seat belts were worn in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Text: On 12/18/11 at 0002 hours AST Bureau of Highway Patrol Northern Team stopped a green Chevrolet truck on Santa Claus Lane near the Richardson Highway for several equipment violations. Investigation revealed that the occupants were in possession of marijuana. Keshaun Brown (19 YOA, Fairbanks) and Shayla Sjolin (18 YOA, Fairbanks) were both issued citations for being in possession of marijuana and alcohol.

Two juveniles, 16 years old and 17 years old, were also cited for possession alcohol and charges for possession marijuana will be forwarded to the juvenile court system.

Text: On 12/1111 at 0051 hours AST Fairbanks Patrol responded to a two vehicle crash near Mile Post 354 Parks Highway near the Blue Loon. The crash was between a Ford Mustang driven by Adam King (25 YOA, Fairbanks) and a 2009 Toyota Matrix driven by Amanda Meyer (28 YOA, Fairbanks).

Bureau of Highway Patrol Northern Team was called to assist as King was suspected of being impaired by alcohol. Investigation revealed that King was driving while impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for DUI and remanded to FCC. His bail was set at $1500. Airbags deployed in King's vehicle. Seat belts were reported to have been worn in the crash.

Text: On 12/10/11 at 1632 hours AST Fairbanks Patrol stopped a 2003 VW Passat for speeding on the Mitchell Expressway. Bureau of Highway Patrol Northern Team was called to assist as the driver was suspected of being impaired by alcohol. Investigation revealed that the driver, Shawn Dunlap (41 YOA, Fairbanks) was driving while impaired by alcohol.

He was arrested for DUI and remanded to FCC without bail. This is second DUI in 10 years.

The passenger of the vehicle, Ruby Soboleff (age 22 of Anchorage), was issued a misdemeanor citation to appear in the District Court at Kenai for Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Sixth degree after investigation revealed that she was illegally in possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Text: On 12-16-11, at approximately 2136 hours, State Troopers with Girdwood Bureau of Highway Patrol conducted a traffic stop on a 1986 blue Ford truck for a moving violation near mile 100 of the Seward Highway. The driver was identified as James J. Tomeo, age 43 of Bird Creek. Investigation revealed Tomeo was driving with a suspended drivers license. Tomeo was issued a misdemeanor citation for DWLS and a citation for the moving violation. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
