Agero job fair turnout high in Florence [Florence Morning News, S.C.]

Jan. 09--FLORENCE -- A two-day job fair for a Massachusetts-based company considering locating in Florence had more than a thousand applicants by midday Monday.

The job fair is part of the site selection process for Agero of Medford, Mass., a company that provides customer service for automotive manufacturers' roadside assistance programs. Florence is a finalist of Agero's new call center and company officials want to get a better read on the potential depth of the local work foce. At the job fair, applicants receive information about the company and have a chance to talk to company representatives about Agero and the jobs that will be available at the proposed Florence call center.

The Agero human resource agents said there were very pleased by the turnout.

The decision as to where the company will locate the facility in Florence or Clarksville, Tenn., will be announced by the end of January. If it decides to locate in Florence, it will begin hiring applicants in management positions by March. Other jobs would filled in April and facility construction would begin in May.

The job fair will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology on Florence-Darlington Technical College's campus. Agero officials say applicants should bring an updated resume with them to the event. There's no advantage to coming to one day or other other, or to coming both days. Interested parties who can't attend the job fair can email resumes to [email protected].

Agero said in a press release it will need 500 response associates, supervisors, operational managers and HR generalist recruiters for the proposed call center. Agero call center teams consist of response associates handling customer service inquiries and problems associated with the servicing of Agero's client base.

Agero's client list includes automotive manufacturers Ford, GM, Toyota, Nissan, Hyundai, Infiniti, Volvo, Bentely and others; and insurance giants like Progressive, Liberty Mutual and Farmers.
