Adaptik Insurance Solutions Receives Patent Approval for its Innovative Adaptive Application Software

BETHLEHEM, PA - May 23, 2005 - The innovative adaptive design underlying Adaptik’s software products is now covered by a patent issued through the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USP # 6895409; Issued May 17, 2005).

"The Patent Office has recognized that our approach to create and maintain software with unprecedented speed and minimal programming is quite unique", said Dr. Tamer Uluakar, Adaptik’s Chief Architect.

"To achieve similar objectives, others have created systems that are generally referred to as CASE (Computer Aided Software Engineering) tools.  A CASE tool consists of a surrogate environment, which is used to capture the requirements for the target application and a generator, which synthesizes the source code and creates the database for the target application and the target application itself.  However, CASE tools have not been effective because of their high overhead costs and, even more importantly, because their proprietary generators can not keep up with the changing technology."

"In contrast, our approach does not involve synthesizing code or databases.  Our systems are programmed using a widely accepted programming language (Java) and can easily interact with other systems and evolve with changing technology.  What makes our systems so effective are the ‘Adaptive Units’, a set of meta data based programs that are easily combined to form what we call ‘Adaptive Applications’.  Configured by end users, these applications can be utilized in a large variety of business scenarios without the need to reprogram."

"Business leaders are placing increased emphasis on speed to market and on reducing their ever-increasing IT costs," said John Pettit, President of Adaptik.  "Adaptive applications are able to respond to these needs in a highly effective way without being locked to a proprietary software generation tool.  Users of our patented technology have been delighted with the quality solutions that have been delivered in a fraction of the time using substantially fewer resources than were required in traditional approaches."
