Hundreds of stuffed animals that will be used to calm children involved in emergencies and crimes were donated to the Anne Arundel County Police Department last week.

The 300 stuffed bears and other animals were donated by the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisers on Thursday as part of the organization's fourth annual Bears for Bears event.

"Because these events can be devastating to children, it usually falls in the hands of law enforcement and first responders to be the one to comfort a child when tragedy strikes," said Brett M. Sause, past president of the NAIFA-Anne Arundel.
