The American College Welcomes Sophia Duffy, JD, Assistant Professor Of Employee Benefits

BRYN MAWR, PA – November 7, 2012 – The American College, the nation’s leading educator of financial services professionals, announced today that Sophia Duffy, JD, CPA, has been named Assistant Professor of Employee Benefits. Prior to joining The College, Duffy’s served as a Senior Auditor with prominent Philadelphia healthcare, food service and educational institutions.
According to Larry Barton, Ph.D., CAP®, President and CEO of The American College, “The addition of Sophia to our faculty will enrich The College’s industry-leading expertise in accounting and business valuation. Her in-depth understanding of the law, financial statements and human resources will help students make better, more informed business decisions.”
Duffy completed her Juris Doctorate (JD) from the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law in 2012. Prior to earning her doctorate, Duffy served 
Duffy was no stranger to the role of senior auditor. Before joining the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, she worked as the senior auditor at Aramark and the University of Pennsylvania. She began her professional career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, as an Associate Auditor in January of 2003.
As the new Assistant Professor of Employee Benefits, Duffy’s responsibilities include teaching GS 803 Financial Statement and Business Valuation Analysis, HS 343 Compensation and Personnel Management and HS 389 Human Resource Management.

Duffy earned her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting from Rutgers University in 2002. In addition to her BS and her JD, she is a Certified Public Accountant, (CPA).
