Progressive Medical’s Brian Allen
Elected to AAPPO Board of Directors

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (Feb. 5, 2013)– Brian Allen, vice president of government affairs at Progressive Medical, Inc. (http://www.progressive-medical.com), has been elected to the board of directors of the American Association of Preferred Provider Organizations (AAPPO). His appointment was confirmed at the association’s annual conference in Florida Jan. 27.

Allen was recruited by AAPPO for his expertise in workers’ compensation public policy as the organization looks to broaden its reach into that industry and the managed care arena. He will be instrumental in helping the organization learn and convey the differences of these two segments of health care to policy makers, as well as work to harmonize legislative efforts between medical and pharmacy providers.

“AAPPO has an active public policy effort in various states,” Allen said. “Together, we can leverage the government relations assets of both of our organizations to elevate our abilities to educate and influence the policy direction of our industries.”

A former Utah legislator and respected lobbyist, Allen oversees the company’s efforts to assist clients with navigating legislative and regulatory issues and building effective strategies to comply with policy that impacts them. He has an extensive history of legislative and executive branch assignments in insurance, workers' compensation, technology, and municipal and local government, and has provided strategic advice, educated policymakers, authored legislation and given expert testimony.

Allen has a bachelor of science in business management from Western Governors University, an online educational institution for working adults that he helped to found, and is a certified insurance counselor. In his home state of Utah, he is active on a number of boards for causes spanning the community, the arts and education.

About AAPPO

Founded in 1983, AAPPO (www.aappo.org) is the leading national association of preferred provider organizations (PPOs). PPOs put control for medical decisions in the hands of the physician and patient, resulting in easy access to the right care, provided by the right doctor, at the right time. AAPPO creates a forum for discussion and dissemination of PPO best practices.

About Progressive Medical, Inc.

More control. Better outcomes. 32% total program savings. 18% fewer prescriptions filled. 42% reduction in the number of claims with active drug use one year after injury. And these are just a few.

Progressive Medical’s ability to capture up to 98% of prescriptions in network at the pharmacy point of sale gives clients more control over the pharmacy-related claims expense. More control facilitates a deeper understanding as we use a patent-pending multivariate statistical model to guide our clinical decisions. With more information, claims professionals and clinicians are better positioned to influence the claim sooner. The result is hard dollar savings, diminished out-of-network hassles and shorter claim duration – a delivered promise.
