Zenefits Ordered To Pay $26,000 For Licensing Violations In Iowa
DES MOINES, Iowa, March 23 -- The Iowa Department of Commerce's Insurance Division issued the following news release:
The Iowa Insurance Division yesterday ordered a $26,000 civil penalty against YourPeople Inc., doing business as Zenefits FTW Insurance Services (Zenefits) for at least 26 instances in which the company's employees sold, solicited or negotiated insurance without being properly licensed in Iowa.
"Zenefits self-reported these violations to the Iowa Insurance Division as they also did in other states, but Iowa has laws on the books to protect consumers from unlicensed insurance sales for a reason," Iowa Insurance Division spokesman Chance McElhaney said. "The Iowa Insurance Division is here to help protect our citizens and whenever we see unlawful behavior, we try to move swiftly to take action."
