Wellabe introduces customizable critical illness insurance in 14 states
DES MOINES, Iowa – Wellabe has launched a new Critical Illness insurance product in 14 states to protect the well-being of customers when they suffer from cancer, heart attack, stroke, or other critical illnesses. Underwritten by Medico Insurance Company, Wellabe’s Critical Illness insurance provides customizable coverage for individuals, couples, and families that pays a lump-sum cash benefit.
“Nearly everyone knows a loved one who has been diagnosed with cancer or suffered a heart attack or stroke. Recent statistics say more than 2 million new cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed this year in the U.S., and every 40 seconds, someone in America has a heart attack or stroke,” explains Erin Bueltel, Director of Product Solutions at Wellabe. “There’s a very real need for this type of coverage, and Wellabe is proud to provide protection to customers with this new product.”
“Wellabe’s Critical Illness insurance helps an individual build the customized coverage they want, based on their health needs and their budget. Whether they want to cover just cancer, just a heart attack or stroke, or both, they can work with their agent to create the plan that works best for them,” says Mary Anna Jones, AVP, National Sales Distribution at Wellabe.
Customers will choose between the Cancer and Cancer in Situ or the Heart Attack and Stroke base policies, then select from several optional riders to build their customized coverage package. The riders offered can provide payouts for skin cancer diagnoses; radiation and chemotherapy treatments; and specified diseases, such as blindness, deafness, end-stage renal failure, or major organ failure that requires specialized treatment. Policyholders can also select options to restore coverage if they fully recover from their initial diagnosis.
“Customers deserve choice, value, and care when it comes to their health insurance needs,” says Jones. “Once again, Wellabe is delivering solutions that provide customers with the flexibility and protection they desire. And with our industry-leading digital tools and quick approval process, agents can provide a live quote and sometimes even approval during the appointment, so customers can leave with their policy and know they’re well prepared.”
