VA Benefits Timeline article correction from the April Veterans' Press:

In the previous article, we discussed the deadlines for certain benefits. When we listed SGLI to VGLI: Servicemember's Group Life Insurance may be converted to Veterans Group Life Insurance (VGLI), a 5-year term policy, renewable for life. We incorrectly listed the time limit as "Within 120 days of separation."

The correct answer for SGLI to VGLI is as follows:

SGLI to VGLI conversion is "within one year and 120 days of separation" and if application is within the first 240 days after separation, there is no medical underwriting required; between 241 days and one year and 120 days, medical underwriting is required.

We hope this clarifies the timeline on this benefit.
