Vermont woman facing multiple charges following car crash Saturday

Nov. 15--WESTMINSTER, Vt. -- A local woman faces several charges including drunk driving in connection with a car crash early Saturday morning.

Vermont State Police have charged Tanya Fisher, 30, of Westminster, with driving under the influence, negligent operation, providing false information to police and leaving the scene of an accident.

She also faces civil violations for operating a vehicle without insurance and driving with a suspended license, police said.

Fisher is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 8 in the Windham Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Brattleboro.

According to a news release from state police, the agency received a call at approximately 12:30 a.m. about a silver Dodge sedan hitting a car in a driveway and then leaving. While troopers were on their way to the scene, emergency dispatchers received several calls about a woman knocking on the doors of homes on Morse Brook Road saying she had been in a car crash, police said.

Officers were able to locate the woman, whom they identified as Fisher, and the crash scene with the help of the Bellows Falls Police Department, according to the news release.

Fisher, who suffered minor injuries in the crash, initially told police officers she wasn't driving the car and provided false information to them, authorities said.

An investigation found that Fisher had been driving the car when she lost control of it because she was speeding and unable to stay in her lane on a sharp corner, police said. She then crashed into a rock wall.

Officers screened Fisher for driving under the influence, and then she was taken to a hospital in Springfield, Vt. for treatment, according to the news release.
