Two AmeriHealth New Jersey Executives appointed to NJ Healthcare Executive Leadership Academy

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Insurance Weekly News -- AmeriHealth New Jersey Senior Vice President of Provider Contracting and Network Operations Ken Kobylowski and Senior Medical Director Frank L. Urbano, MD, MBA, FACP have been nominated to participate in the first cohort of the New Jersey Healthcare Executive Leadership Academy (NJHELA). Capped at 30 members, the exclusive invitation is extended to those who've demonstrated qualities to ensure the betterment of the health care delivery system in New Jersey.

Developed by the New Jersey Association of Health Plans, the Medical Society of New Jersey and the New Jersey Hospital Association, NJHELA is designed to enhance cross disciplinary, collaborative leadership among three health care sectors in order to effectively address pressing issues facing the industry. The first class will focus on improving end-of-life care, which is a significant area of opportunity in the state.

Both Kobylowski and Dr. Urbano bring vast industry knowledge to the NJHELA. Prior to joining AmeriHealth New Jersey in 2015, Kobylowski served as Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance, playing a critical leadership role during the historic implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Throughout his career, Dr. Urbano has been dedicated to improving care coordination. He is currently a Fellow in the 2016-2017 AHIP Executive Leadership Program for Medical Directors, a national leadership forum to help shape the future of health care.

Each co-sponsor elected 10 executives to participate in the joint initiative to build stronger leadership among physicians and hospitals, post-acute providers and health plans.

The six-month program will commence this month and continue through June.
