Trump Longs For ‘Global Warming’ As Deadly Storms Sweep The Nation
New York Daily News, The (NY)
Jan. 21--President Trump still doesn't buy the connection between freezing temperatures and "global warming."
While an Arctic storm washed across the East Coast killing at least six people, knocking out power and grounding thousands of flights, the President tweeted, "Wouldn't be bad to have a little of that good old fashioned Global Warming right now!"
Dr. J. Marshall Shepherd, President of the American Meteorological Society, explained on the White House website in 2014, that a particularly hot or cold day is an anomaly rather than proof that a warming of the Earth's surface isn't problematic.
"Weather is your mood and climate is your personality," he explained.
According to NASA, "global warming" denotes changing temperatures on the Earth's surface due to human emission and greenhouse gasses, while the more commonly used term "climate change" describes a long-term change in the Earth's climate. On average, temperatures are increasing, according to NASA'S research.
Meteorologists have long argued that climate change can lead to extreme weather conditions, including Arctic blasts and hurricanes.
The President is skeptical about the science behind climate change, which he called a hoax "created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive" in 2012. He has a long history of using cold days as an example to support his point.
