Trump Declares Flood Disaster In Michigan

MICHIGAN - On August 2, President Trump approved a major disaster declaration for Michigan, which makes federal disaster funding available to the areas harmed by severe storms and flooding from June 22 to June 27.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced the availability of assistance, which will aid Bay, Gladwin, Isabella and Midland Counties and the Saginaw' Chippewa Tribe within Isabella County.

"Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster," a press release said. "Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide."

Steven W. Johnson is the federal coordinating officer for the recovery process in the areas.
