TRUMP AND MONTANA'S ALL-REPUBLICAN CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION MARCH THE COUNTRY TOWARD A GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN
States News Service
The following information was released by the Montana Democratic Party:
While the country faces a looming midnight shutdown, Trump and his Republican enablers in Congress refuse to get serious and negotiate a plan to cancel the cuts, lower costs, and save healthcare.
Montana's all-Republican congressional delegation has supported Trump's attacks on healthcare from the start, championing his billionaire-first budget bill that would chip away at rural healthcare and access to health coverage for tens of thousands of Montanans across the state. A Republican government shutdown would only make matters worse, leaving millions of Americans faced with higher premiums, co-pays, and deductibles.
To add insult to injury, the Trump administration is holding federal workers hostage, further threatening mass layoffs at agencies if government funding runs out.
Here's what else is at stake:
Health insurance companies are jacking up premiums at the highest rate in 15 years, and costs for 22 million Americans are set to skyrocket by an average of 75% because Republicans have failed to extend ACA premium tax credits in their budget bill.
This is in addition to the 15 million Americans who are going to lose health care thanks to Republicans' billionaire-first budget bill.
Trump's reckless agenda is also:
Raising prices for birth control, depression, and hypertension medications,
Forcing a majority of companies to shift higher health care costs on their workers through higher deductibles and copays,
And closing rural hospitals because of Republican cuts to Medicaid funding.
