Thomas Gotting to Join XL Catlin As Country Manager Germany, Insurance

COLOGNE, Germany, Nov. 21 -- XL Catlin, a brand used by XL Group, issued the following news release:
XL Catlin's insurance operations today announced the appointment of Dr. Thomas Gotting as Country Manager Germany effective January 1, 2018. He succeeds Dieter Goebbels who will retire in early 2018. Dr. Gotting will be based in Cologne and report to Kelly Lyles, Chief Executive Client & Country Management at XL Catlin.
Dr. Gotting joins XL Catlin from Coface, one of the leading credit insurers globally, where he was a member of the Management Board Northern Europe Region in his position as Regional Commercial Director.
Commenting, Kelly Lyles said: "The German economy expanded by 0.7% in the first half of 2017, its fastest pace in three years and, as the largest economy in Europe, it is a key market for XL Catlin. I am delighted that Thomas will join us as Country Manager to support our clients and brokers in this important market. Thomas has the client focused and solution oriented approach that our business partners have come to expect from us. I am confident that he will lead our team to develop an even stronger presence across product lines and client segments in Germany."
On Dieter Goebbels' retirement she added: "Dieter's successful insurance career has spanned 45 years. We thank him for his dedication in helping XL Catlin build a very strong and loyal client base in the market. He will stay with us for a transition period to ensure a smooth hand-over to Thomas."
Dr. Gotting started his insurance career in 1999 at Gerling and held various senior positions at Atradius between 2004 and 2014, including responsibility as Country Manager Germany, before he moved to Coface. He is a qualified lawyer and holds an MBA from Business Schools in Madrid and Shanghai.
In Germany, XL Catlin has further Insurance offices in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich.
