The Democratic presidential debate drinking game you didn’t know you needed

AM New York

Jul. 31--The second round of Democratic presidential debates has arrived, and we know how to make them a little more interesting.

The field of 2020 hopefuls is so large that the event was split, with 20 qualifying candidates debating over two days. The 10 candidates who weren't on stage Tuesday night are set to square off Wednesday.

The debate, taking place in Detroit, will air from 8 to 10 p.m. on CNN and CNN en Español. It also will stream online via multiple digital and social platforms, including CNN.com and the network's mobile apps for iOS and Android.

Whether you're hosting friends or hanging at a bar, have some fun with this debate drinking game.

Presidential debate, night two

Who's on stage: Former Vice President Joe Biden; Sen. Kamala Harris, of California; Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, of Hawaii; Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, of New York; Sen. Cory Booker, of New Jersey; Mayor Bill de Blasio, of New York City; Sen. Michael Bennet, of Colorado; entrepreneur Andrew Yang; Gov. Jay Inslee, of Washington; former Housing Sec. Julián Castro.

Take a drink if:

-- De Blasio mentions he's the mayor of the "safest big city in America."

-- Gabbard references her service in the military.

-- You have to Google who a candidate is.

-- A candidate defends "The Squad" against attacks by President Donald Trump.

-- Gillibrand touts her record on women's reproductive rights.

-- A candidate loses time for constantly disrupting the debate flow.

-- Biden brings up former President Barack Obama.

-- Trump tweets about the debate.

-- A candidate turns a question on policy into an attack on Trump.

-- Castro mentions he was the first candidate to say Puerto Rico Gov. Ricardo Rosselló should resign.

-- A candidate dances around whether they're in favor of impeaching Trump.

Presidential debate, night one

Who was on stage: Sen. Elizabeth Warren, of Massachusetts; Sen. Bernie Sanders, of Vermont; Gov. Steve Bullock, of Montana; Rep. Tim Ryan, of Ohio; former Gov. John Hickenlooper, of Colorado; former Rep. John Delaney, of Maryland; author Marianne Williamson; Sen. Amy Klobuchar, of Minnesota; Mayor Pete Buttigieg, of South Bend, Indiana; former Rep. Beto O'Rourke, of Texas.

Take a drink if:

-- Warren says, "I have a plan for that."

-- A candidate turns a question on policy into an attack on Trump.

-- Bullock jokes about not making it into the first debate.

-- A candidate loses time for constantly disrupting the debate flow.

-- Trump tweets about the debate.

-- Klobuchar mentions the Midwest.

-- A moderator or candidate refers to O'Rourke as Robert (his actual first name).

-- A candidate defends "The Squad" against attacks by Trump.

-- You have to Google who a candidate is.

-- A candidate dances around whether they're in favor of impeaching Trump.
