The Cheapest States For Auto Insurance in 2018

PR Newswire iReach

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Compare-autoinsurance.org (http://compare-autoinsurance.org/) is a top auto insurance brokerage website, providing car insurance quotes online from trustworthy agencies all over the United States. This website offers car insurance info about different coverage types and money saving tips.

Insurance information website Insure.com has published its ranking of states with the highest and lowest annual insurance rates. The price difference between states is more abrupt than previously thought. According to Insure.com, the national average for annual premiums is $1,365.

The cheapest states are characterized by predominant rural population and rare extreme weather conditions. Fewer drivers on the roads mean fewer accidents and cheaper rates.

The cheapest states for car insurance in 2018 are:

  • Vermont. Annual premiums in Vermont average $932, which is well below (32 percent) the national average of $1,365. Vermont has a really sparse population, being the 37th most populated state. Furthermore, most of the population is rural. There are few accidents and claims. Also, there are very few uninsured drivers in Vermont. The rate of uninsured drivers is 6.8 percent, which is the third lowest in the country.
  • Ohio. The average premium in Ohio is $944, which is 31 percent less than the national average. There are almost 250 insurers in Ohio, leading to intense competition. Clients can quickly find cheaper coverage.
  • Idaho. The average annual premium in Idaho is $989 or 28 percent less than the national average. Idaho has a low population density, is mainly rural and comes with an insurance market with over 185 auto insurance companies.  Plus, Idaho rarely suffers from major weather disasters.
  • Virginia. The annual average premium is $1,013, which is 26 percent less than the national average. A competitive marketplace with over 300 carriers licensed to write policies in the state means that Virginians have plenty of coverage options. Furthermore, Virginia has a stable regulatory environment, the SCC, of which the Bureau of Insurance is a part, is an independent department of Virginia state government. This means that rate increases are very thoroughly analyzed.
  • Iowa. Iowa is the perfect example of a rural-state. With no less than 86,900 farms, this rural area has really low accident rates. An average premium of $1,025 puts it 25 percent below the national average. Although there is some severe weather during summers and winters, it does not impact the low rates.

"Living in a low-density rural area will help you get really cheap car insurance rates. Find out which states have the cheapest average premiums", ", said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.
