Superior Dental Care Joins Forces with Medical Mutual

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Managed Care Weekly Digest -- Medical Mutual of Ohio signed an agreement to acquire Superior Dental Care (SDC), a dental benefits carrier headquartered in the Dayton area. SDC, which offers more than 14,000 dental network access points in Ohio and 650,000 across the United States, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Medical Mutual (see also Medical Mutual of Ohio and Superior Dental Care).

At this time, Medical Mutual and SDC will operate as separate companies. SDC will continue to sell standalone dental benefits throughout Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana as Superior Dental Care. There will be no immediate change to how current customers do business with either company. The companies also do not anticipate any loss of jobs because of the agreement.

SDC will remain headquartered in the Dayton area, with Harrell continuing to lead the company. The partnership between SDC and Medical Mutual is expected to be ratified by SDC shareholders and finalized by July 31, 2018.
