Sparks-based Kelly Benefits acquires Gettysburg firm to extend its reach
Lorraine Mirabella, Baltimore SunBaltimore Sun
Sparks-based Kelly Benefits, one of the largest benefits and payroll firms in the U.S., plans to expand its East Coast presence with the acquisition of a Pennsylvania firm.
Kelly said it is acquiring Gettysburg Benefits Administrators Inc., a privately owned, family-run business founded in 1979. GBA offers billing and benefit administrative technology services with a focus on supplemental insurance.
The purchase price was not disclosed. The GBA brand is expected eventually to fold into the Kelly brand.
Kelly, which also offers insurance broker and consulting services, said the move allows it to reach more clients in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, West Virginia and Washington.
Frank Kelly III, Kelly’s CEO, called the acquisition a natural partnership that will add to the firm’s expertise in the insurance and benefits industry.
Matt Crowner, president of GBA, will continue to lead that team and manage day-to-day operations from the firm’s Gettysburg headquarters.
