Southland crime: Police say man gave them twin's identity because license was suspended, but twin's license also was suspended, and more

Aug. 25—Tinley Park police arrested Nicholas Fowler, 33, address unknown, and accused him of obstructing identification and driving on a suspended license after using his twin brother's information during a traffic stop in June, police said. Oak Forest police initially arrested Nicholas Fowler June 28 and charged him with driving on a suspended license and speeding, however the charges were filed under his brother's name.

Fowler's brother contacted police July 26 to explain what happened. Nicholas Fowler told police he used his twin's identity because his own license was suspended, however he did not realize his brother's license was also suspended at the time of the June traffic stop.

Nicholas Fowler turned himself in July 27 and was charged with obstructing identification, speeding, driving on a suspended license, expired registration and failure to notify the Secretary of State's office of an address change, police said. Police also advised his twin brother the steps he needs to get the false charges cleared from his record.

BATTERY ARREST: Jazzmine Meadows, 22, of Chicago, was arrested and accused of battery after pushing another woman at Silver Cross Hospital, 1900 Silver Cross Boulevard, on Aug. 11, police said.

DOMESTIC BATTERY: Carrie Hosman, 36, of the 800 block of O'Connell Street, New Lenox, was arrested and accused of domestic battery after an Aug. 14 incident at Spencer and Lahard Roads, police said.

Palos Heights

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Tracy Fotsis, 39, of the 7300 block of Kiowa Lane, Palos Heights, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident Aug. 18 in the 7000 block of West 127th Street, police said.

WARRANT ARREST: Jason McDonald, 27, of the 1500 block of Juneway Terrace, Chicago, was processed on an outstanding warrant from the Mount Prospect Police Department Aug. 18 after being questioned by police at Walgreens in the 6300 block of West 127th Street, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Brennan McCorkle, 26, of Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, no insurance and expired registration Aug. 21 in the 12700 block of South Harlem Avenue, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Xavier Weeks, 30, of the 10700 block of South Lloyd Drive, Worth, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, following too closely and suspended registration Aug. 22 in the 10700 block of South Lloyd Drive, police said.

Oak Forest

CONVERTERS STOLEN: Police said someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked outside NiteGames, 5544 W. 147th St., on Aug. 19. Converters were also reported stolen from a car parked in the 6800 block of Forestview Drive and the 15600 block of Reynolds Lane overnight Aug. 19-20.

CAR BURGLARY: A woman told police someone stole her child's cellphone valued at $1,000 from the center cup holder of her car when she was parked outside of Food 4 Less, 5556 W. 159th St., on Aug. 21.

Orland Park

DUI ARREST: Oscar Gallardo, 39, of the 16400 block of Lee Avenue, Orland Park, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, improper lane usage and improper use of a passing lane Aug. 7 at 143rd and LaGrange Road, police said.

DUI ARREST: Eduardo Rojas, 29, of the 5000 block of 159th Street, Oak Forest, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, no insurance, illegal transportation of alcohol and no valid driver's license Aug. 9 in the 7700 block of 157th Street, police said.

WEAPON ARREST: Korey Collier, 18, of the 13900 block of Atlantic Avenue, Riverdale, was arrested and accused of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, speeding 10-15 mph above the speed limit and was ticketed for an obstructed windshield Aug. 13 in the 15100 block of 94th Avenue, police said. Police said Collier had a loaded handgun in his possession despite not having a FOID card or a concealed carry license.

CRIMINAL TRESPASS: Vanzell Smith, 60, of the 17200 block of Halsted Avenue, Hazel Crest, was arrested and accused of criminal trespass to land after entering Orland Square Mall on Aug. 15 despite having been previously issued a lifetime ban, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Ayman Abuhamdah, 58, of the 10600 block of Parkside Avenue, Chicago Ridge, was arrested and accused of retail theft after stealing merchandise from Home Depot, 7300 159th St., on Aug. 16, police said.

Tinley Park

CAR BURGLARY: Video surveillance showed an unknown woman rifling through an unlocked car in the 19600 block of Mayfield Place on Aug. 1. The woman is described as white with a thin build and had blonde hair worn in a pony tail. She was also wearing a long sleeve green flannel shirt, a dark colored undershirt and red shorts. Nothing appeared to be stolen.

DUI ARREST: Patrick Shute, 63, address unknown, was arrested and accused of drunken driving, failure to wear a seat belt, improper lane usage, no insurance and illegal transportation of alcohol Aug. 2 in the 16300 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Dedric McCullough, 50, address unknown, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and disobeying a traffic light Aug. 5, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Ismael Carmona, 34, address unknown, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license Aug. 5 in the 17700 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.

STABBING: Police said a man received a minor stab wound to the thigh during an incident in the 7900 block of 163rd Street Aug. 7. Police were unable to locate the female suspect and said the victim became uncooperative when asked for additional information. The victim was treated and released from Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Country Club Hills

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Darlene King, 35, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and revoked registration Aug. 3 at 175th Street and East Gate Drive, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Trsheena Q. Hicks, 31, 16700 block of Artesian Avenue, Hazel Crest, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license during an Aug. 6 crash investigation at 167th Street and Crawford Avenue, police said.

THEFT: Christian G. Jamison, 32, 100 block of Pheasant Road, Matteson, was arrested and accused of theft Aug. 10 in the 19200 block of Elm Drive after taking car keys from an inebriated individual, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Thomas J. Skala, 37, 13400 block of Chatham Street, Blue Island, was arrested and accused of retail theft and criminal trespass to property Aug. 10 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 4005 167th Place, after stealing merchandise selling for $534.99, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Wanda F. Evans, 58, 14700 block of Kimbark Avenue, Dolton, was arrested and accused of retail theft Aug. 11 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 4005 167th Place, after stealing merchandise selling for approximately $100, police said.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Michael Lee Jr., 33, 3900 block of 178th Place, Country Club Hills, was charged with aggravated battery by the Cook County state's attorney's office Aug. 11 in the 3900 block of 178th Place after body slamming an officer and spitting in the officer's face, police said. Lee, who had approached the officer during an unrelated call, was also accused of resisting a peace officer and resisting arrest, police said.

BATTERY: Wiley Pettway, 25, Chicago, was arrested and accused of battery and resisting a peace officer during an Aug. 12 at 187th Street and Marycrest Drive stop for illegally walking in the roadway, police said.

FIGHT: Deshon Dotson, 32, of the 22400 block of York Court, Richton Park, was arrested and accused of fighting Aug. 15 in the 3700 block of 168th Place, police said.

Homewood

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Gavin Henderson, 51, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision Aug. 12 at Halsted Street and Ridge Road, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Jonathan Green, 29, 1400 block of Emerald Avenue, Chicago Heights, was arrested and accused of retail theft Aug. 14 at Best Buy, 17800 Halsted St., after stealing merchandise selling for approximately $100, police said.

FLEEING: Trevelyan Cranford, 21, first block of Hickory Street, Glenwood, was arrested and accused of fleeing/attempting to elude arrest Aug. 15 in that block after driving away from a collision in the 17700 block of Halsted Street and evading officers' attempts to curb his vehicle, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Jabari Debose, 22, Lynwood, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and speeding Aug. 15 at Governors Highway and Cherry Creek Drive, police said.

DUI: Alan Estrada, 58, 3000 block Surrey Lane, Hazel Crest, was arrested and accused of drunken driving and improper parking in the roadway Aug. 15 in the 3100 block of 183rd Street, police said.

RETAIL THEFT: Ramiro Rios, 55, 15800 block of Halsted Street, Harvey, was arrested and accused of retail theft Aug. 16 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 17550 Halsted St., after stealing merchandise selling for $398, police said.

OAK LAWN

ILLEGAL GUN: Shaun M.A. Patton, 40, Chicago, was arrested and accused of unlawfully using a weapon during an Aug. 5 parking lot crash investigation in the 4800 block of 111th Street after he was found to have a handgun and two loaded magazines without a concealed-carry permit, police said.

NARCOTICS: Matthew M. Barry, 37, undisclosed block of 92nd Street, Oak Lawn, was arrested and accused of illegally possessing a controlled substance Aug. 6 in the 9100 block of Central Avenue after officers recovered two suspected "crack" cocaine rocks, police said.

DUI: Marcin Jarog, 41, undisclosed block of 80th Court, Palos Hills, was arrested and accused of drunken driving with a blood-alcohol concentration above the legal limit and improper lane use Aug. 6 at 99th Street and Cicero Avenue, police said.

THEFT: A package was reported stolen Aug. 5 from the common area of a condominium building in an undisclosed block of Keating Avenue.

WARRANT SERVICE: Curtis L. Brown Jr., 25, undisclosed block of 54th Avenue, Oak Lawn, was taken into custody on Madison County failure-to-appear warrants for a felony-theft charge and a felony-forgery charge Aug. 8 in that block, police said.

NO LICENSE: Shawn F. Head Jr., 26, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license, driving without insurance and violating seat belt law Aug. 8 in the 4200 block of 95th Street, police said.

NO LICENSE: Jesus Hernandez, 44, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license and improper lane use Aug. 8 in the 9500 block of Southwest Highway, police said.
