Southland crime: Man found on Oak Lawn rooftop tells police he was there to meditate, and more

Jul. 7—Chicago Ridge

WARRANT ARREST: Leonard Dixon, 28, of Oak Lawn, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for fleeing and eluding police June 24 in the 10500 block of Brooks Lane, police said.

WARRANT ARREST: Robert Griggs, 33, of Bridgeview, was arrested by Worth police on outstanding warrants for battery and leaving the scene of an accident on June 27 in the 6000 block of Washington Street, police said.

Homer Glen

THEFT: Police said someone driving a black GMC Yukon stole a U-Haul trailer from BI Equipment Rental, 13747 W. 159th St., on June 9, police said.

BURGLARY SCAM: An elderly woman told police two unknown men wearing neon vests came to her home in the 14000 block of West 139th Street June 10 and told them they performed roofing work on her home several years ago and observed a problem that needed to be fix when driving by. The woman let them in but then asked them to leave after speaking with them briefly. She later realized her birth certificate, Social Security card and several pieces of jewelry had been stolen.

REVOKED LICENSE: Freddie Villegas, 42, of Darien, was arrested and accused of driving on a revoked license, no insurance and no seat belts June 10 in the 17000 block of West Bluff Road, police said.

AGGRAVATED SPEEDING: Mazmun Alam, 36, of the 12900 block of Archer Avenue, Lemont, was arrested and accused of aggravated speeding and no child restrains June 12 at 151st and Gougar Road, police said.

New Lenox

DRUG ARREST: James Cabrera, 45, of the 13000 block of Bruns Road, Manhattan, was arrested and accused of possession of cocaine June 26 in the 100 block of Laraway Road, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Joseph Swan, 24 of the 1700 block of Highland Avenue, Crest Hill, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license June 28 at Cedar Road and U.S. 6, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Robert Needham, 35, of Wilmington, was arrested and accused of driving while license revoked June 30 at Cedar and Edison Roads, police said.

DOMESTIC BATTERY: Michele Thompson, 36, of the 1000 block of Shagbark Road, New Lenox, was arrested and accused of domestic battery after a July 1 incident at her home, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Andrew Mason, 34, of the 15100 block of Lavergne Avenue, Oak Forest, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license July 2 at Laraway Road and Foxwood Drive, police said.

Palos Hills

FRAUD: A resident of the 9900 block of 84th Terrace told police on June 22 that someone stole their personal financial information and used it to buy a car in Texas.

GUN STOLEN: A complainant told police June 23 that someone stole a purse containing a handgun and four credit cards when they were parked in the 10200 block of 84th Terrace.

CAR BURGLARY: Police said someone stole a cellphone and wallet from a car parked in the 10200 block of 80th Court on June 24. The window of the car had been left open.

CHILD ENDANGERMENT: Supannee Fudala, 40, of Palos Hills, was arrested and accused of endangering the life and health of a child June 25 after leaving her juvenile daughter home alone in the 7800 block of Sheffield without a way to dial 911 and then later returning home intoxicated. The child was released into the custody of her father.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Nael Bayaa, 46, of Palos Hills, was arrested and accused of disorderly conduct after tampering with the front door of a home and banging on the door in the 10400 block of Todd Drive June 27, police said.

DRUG ARREST: Ian Szekely, 40, of Crestwood, was arrested and accused of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, three counts of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful delivery of marijuana, possession of marijuana, three counts of resisting a peace officer and disorderly conduct June 27 in the 10300 block of Roberts Road, police said.

Oak Forest

CAR BURGLARY: A woman told police someone stole three pairs of sunglasses valued at a total of $1,500 from her car when it was parked in the 15500 block of Sierra Drive on June 29.

CAR BURGLARY: A man told police someone stole loose change, his insurance card and his registration card from his car when it was parked in his driveway in the 6000 block of 157th Street on June 29.

CAR BURGLARY: A man told police someone stole a backpack containing cash, a debit card and prescription medication from his car when he left it parked outside of the Original Pancake House, 5140 159th St., on July 1, police said.

DOMESTIC BATTERY: Kyle Krumrie, 34, of the 4700 block of 151st Street, Oak Forest, was arrested and accused of domestic battery after a July 3 incident at 151st and Cicero Avenue, police said.

Tinley Park

DUI ARREST: Victor Turcanu, 54, address unknown, was arrested and accused of drunken driving June 21 in the 7700 block of Greenway Boulevard, police said.

DUI ARREST: Joseph Damiani, 54, address unknown, was arrested and accused of drunken driving June 21 in the 7300 block of West 183rd Street, police said.

DRUG ARREST: John Fisher Jr., 25, address unknown, was arrested and accused of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after being questioned by police June 24 in the 16600 block of Oak Park Avenue, police said.

BATTERY ARREST: Tom Lambropoulos, 45, address unknown, was arrested and accused of battery after a physical altercation with another customer inside of Just Shrimp, 15940 S. Harlem Ave., on June 24, police said.

AGGRAVATED ASSAULT: Evan Dubois, 27, address unknown, was arrested and accused of aggravated assault after unfolding a pocketknife during an argument with a male relative June 25 in the 8100 block of 161st Place, police said.

BATTERY ARREST: Sana Bell, 27, address unknown, was arrested and accused of battery, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and resisting a peace officer after a June 26 incident at a home in the 6800 block of 176th Street, police said.

Will County

KIDNAPPING FRAUD: A man in the 1000 block of Front Street told police he received a cellphone call from an unknown man claiming to have the victim's young daughter and demanding $500 in cash for her safe return on June 12. The victim wired the cash to an address in Texcoco, Mexico and that at one point a young girl was on the phone and used the victim's daughter's first name. The victim told police he thought his daughter was at the movies with his ex-wife but he was unable to reach her by phone until after the fact when she informed the victim their daughter was with her and was unharmed.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Peter Klingensmith, 51, of the 2100 block of West Exchange, Crete, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, illegal use of a cellphone, failure to signal, no seat belts, no insurance and expired registration June 8 in the 25000 block of Western Avenue in University Park, police said.

Country Club Hills

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Roman Mitchell, 22, 60th block of Main Street, Chicago Heights, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and failing to yield the right of way during a June 15 crash investigation at 183rd Street and Cicero Avenue.

BATTERY: Jaden Gilmore, 20, 16000 block of Avalon Avenue, South Holland, was arrested and accused of battery, criminal damage to property, trespassing and unlawful interference June 16 in the 3600 block of 175th Place.

TRESPASSING: Prentesia Courtney, 27, Calumet City, was arrested and accused of criminal trespass during a June 19 retail-theft investigation at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 4005 W. 167th Place, police said.

NARCOTICS: Thomas Pasch, 32, Mason, Michigan, was arrested and accused of illegally possessing a controlled substance after officers recovered an undisclosed outlawed drug during a June 21 retail-theft investigation at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, 4005 W 167th Place.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Keyvon N. Griffin, 21, 18600 block of Maple Avenue, Country Club Hills, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and speeding during a June 27 stop at 187th Street and Maple Avenue for driving 44 mph in a 20 mph zone, police said.

WARRANT SERVICE: Renee Pila, 30, Joliet, was taken into custody during an unrelated June 27 investigation in the 18000 block of Michael Avenue, police said. Pila was wanted for failing to appear on traffic citations, according to Will County Circuit Court records.

DOMESTIC BATTERY: Francis Tross, 77, 18000 block of Michael Avenue, Country Club Hills, was arrested and accused of domestic battery June 27 in the 18000 block of Michael Avenue, police said.

Homewood

THEFT: John R. Craft, 30, Hammond, was arrested and accused of theft June 23 at Menards, 17545 Halsted St., in connection with using his status as a store employee on May 24 to steal a customer's store credit voucher, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Carlos G. Landa, 20, 18300 block of Stewart Avenue, Homewood, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license during a June 25 stop at 183rd Street and Park Avenue for an undisclosed reason, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Maya T. Latham, 33, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance and failing to properly secure a child younger than 8 during a June 26 stop in the 18300 block of Halsted Street for improper turning, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Alfredo Bolivar, 29, Bourbonnais, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance during a June 28 crash investigation in the 17500 block of Halsted Street, police said.

BATTERY: Jayden Bankston, 18, 100 block of Craig Drive, Chicago Heights, was arrested and accused of battery June 28 in the 17500 block of Halsted Street after shooting another person with a BB gun, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Belinda Hardrick, 50, 800 block of Manor Court, Glenwood, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license during a June 29 stop in the 18300 block of Center Avenue for speeding, police said.

SUSPENDED LICENSE: Kayla Smith, 31, Elk Grove Village, was arrested and accused of driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance during a July 1 stop in the 18400 block of Harwood Avenue for speeding, police said.

Oak Lawn

WARRANT SERVICE: Colin P. McNichols, 37, undisclosed block of Clifton Park Avenue, Evergreen Park, was taken into custody on a no-bail Cook County warrant for possessing a stolen motor vehicle and also accused of obstructing identification during a June 22 suspicious-subject investigation at a drugstore in the 4700 block of 95th Street, police said.

TRESPASSING: Alfredo Alanis III, 23, Calumet City, was ticketed for trespassing at 6 a.m. June 23 atop a business' roof in the 4600 block of 103rd Street, where he had gone to meditate, police said.

NO LICENSE: Dejuan M. Cox, 19, Chicago, was arrested and accused of driving without a valid license and improperly using registration during a June 23 stop in the 87000 block of Cicero Avenue for violating seat belt law, police said.

REVOKED LICENSE: Gabriel Moreno Tamayos, 39, Carpentersville, was arrested and accused of driving on a revoked license, driving without insurance, driving without a valid license and speeding during a June 23 stop in the 4000 block of 95th Street for driving 46 mph in a 30 mph zone, police said.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Michael Ulanowski, 48, who provided a Chicago address, was arrested and accused of disorderly conduct June 23 in the 11000 block of Deblin Lane after shouting expletives at a neighbor, police said.
