Society Of FSP Elects Officers And Directors For 2017-18
NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. - The Society of Financial Service Professionals, a multidisciplinary community of credentialed financial professionals, including investment advisors, attorneys, CPAs, insurance professionals, and experts across a variety of sectors, has elected its executive committee and three new board members for the 2017-2018 term.
Serving on the executive committee are: president, James S. Aussem, JD, AEP, Cleveland; president-elect, Elvin D. Turner, JD, MBA, Bloomfield, CT; secretary, Robert B. Wellendorf, II, CLU, AEP, CAP; and immediate past president, Anthony R. Bartlett, ChFC, CASL, RICP, AEP, Worcester, MA. Joseph E. Frack, CPA, CGMA, serves as chief executive officer of the Society of FSP.
FSP past president and Nominating Committee chair Mike Dow, CPA, CLU, ChFC, AEP, commented on the impressive credentials and exemplary leadership skills of the newly elected FSP Board.
Jim Aussem is a shareholder of Cavitch Familo & Durkin, Co., LPA, a member of its board of directors, and chair of the Business Practice Group. His practice is focused on mergers and acquisitions as well as succession planning, and estates and trusts. Jim is a past president of the Cleveland FSP Chapter, and received the Chapter’s Financial Service Professional of the Year award in 2014. He serves on the Board of the Foundation for FSP and has been a speaker and presenter at numerous FSP Clinics and Leadership Development Conferences, as well as many other industry meetings. Jim also serves on the Planned Giving Committees of the Cleveland Museum of Art, University Hospital and Baldwin-Wallace University.
President-elect Elvin Turner is president and CEO of Turner Consulting, LLC. He is a wellness advocate, offering a seminar series to corporations that enhance their health wellness programs with related wellness concepts across personal finance and the preparation for retirement. He previously served on the board of the Retirement Income Industry Association, and is past president of the Hartford Chapter of FSP. Currently he serves on FSP’s national Board of Directors and is chairman of the Board of Deacons of the Apostolic Fellowship Church. Elvin was instrumental in the development of the Society of FSP’s Achieving Financial Security program, an outreach program that brings financial education to underserved communities. A graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School, Elvin holds an MBA from the University of Connecticut.
FSP's new secretary, Rob Wellendorf, is owner of FFG Executive Solutions, a consulting and planning firm specializing in business succession and executive benefits, based in Omaha. A past president of the Society of FSP's Omaha Chapter, he has served on numerous committees at the national and Chapter levels. He is also currently a Chapter advisor and has been moderator at Leadership Development Conferences, Key Chapter Summit programs, and Chapter Leader webinars. He has also served on various committees of his local NAIFA and GAMA Chapters. Rob is on the advisory committee of Yale Richards Professional Education Seminar, is an officer of the Omaha Chapter of Legatus, and previously served as a director for Sienna Francis House Homeless Shelter.
The Society of FSP also elected three new members to its national board of directors, each of whom will serve a three-year term on the 18-member board. They are: Kevin E. Baldwin, CLU, ChFC, CAP, of B&L Financial Architects in Hartford; Melissa Dornan, MBA, of Guidewell Financial Solutions in Baltimore; and Julie M. Ladimer, JD, of Ladimer Law in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Kevin Baldwin is co-managing director at B & L Financial Architects. A past president of the Society of FSP's Hartford Chapter, he has also been the chair of the membership and professional development committees and assisted with the Achieving Financial Security program. Kevin is on the Alumni Board for The American College and chairs their college advisory committee. Active in his community, Kevin serves on the board of the CT Radio Fellowship and as elder in his local church.
Melissa Dornan is vice president, Strategic Partnerships at Guidewell Financial Services, where she leverages her experience in business management to oversee Guidewell’s strategic partnerships and fund development. A past president of the Society of FSP’s National Capital Chapter, she currently serves on the Chapter’s Professionals Night Committee. Melissa is a coach at Leadership Essentials in Howard County, has served as financial director and financial coach at Anne Arundel House of Hope and has been chair on the advisory board of Urban Education. She has volunteered at Saint Luke's Men's Shelter and as a teacher at Church of the Annunciation.
Julie Ladimer is owner of Ladimer Law Office, where she specializes in estate planning and elder law. She is past president of the Society of FSP's Central Massachusetts Chapter, and has been instrumental in the Chapter's continuing growth. Currently vice president of her local Business Network International Chapter, she has also served as president, a visitor host, and on the membership committee. Julie volunteers her time and knowledge at the Senior Center in Natick, Massachusetts, meeting with local seniors to answer their legal questions.
