Sheridan College to Host ‘An Inside View from Mars on the World of Commodities’

SHERIDAN, Wyo., Oct. 15 -- Sheridan College issued the following news release:

Two of Mars, Inc.'s global officials will present on a variety of business and agriculture topics at Sheridan College on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

The presentation, "An Inside View from Mars on the World of Commodities," will be held inside the Whitney Presentation Hall from 6-7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Luke Marriott, Global Commodity Senior Manager, and Brice Russell, Global Chief Procurement Officer, will present on five topics: "Commodity Hedging at Mars," "What is Risk?" "Why Hedge?" "Speculation vs. Risk Management," and a review of "Interactive Ag Commodity Case Studies."

Russell and Marriott will also meet with students on the Sheridan College campus earlier in the day to discuss the agriculture industry and marketing. The speakers will focus on how an agriculture degree will prepare graduates for a variety of opportunities while following their passions.

"We are excited to bring in two of Mars' top officials to provide an insightful presentation to the public and meet with students who are interested in the agriculture industry," said Keith Klement, SC Director of Agriculture. "We are thankful to the Mars family for helping Sheridan College become a leader in agriculture education across the region and country."

Russell has wide-ranging experience in understanding and purchasing high quality ingredients and services across a diversity of food businesses, at Mars, Inc. Russell, a 27-year veteran of Mars, Inc., is an expert in marketing, accounting, agricultural and international business.

Marriott is an established commodity risk management expert and a valued thought leader in objective economic analysis, according to his Mars, Inc. biography. In his eight-plus years as a corporate Procurement and Treasury professional, Marriott is experienced in commodity and currency market risk management, economic and commodity research, strategic sourcing, sustainability, and project finance.
