Macon Telegraph (GA)
Oct. 06--Seven Macon residents were indicted Tuesday in an alleged 2013 insurance fraud scheme involving a staged crash between a U-Haul and a BMW.
Bernard Taylor, 56, Kentaurus Taylor, 27, Stephanie Sharee James, 41, and Marcus Bernard Pertillo, 30, are charged with two counts of insurance fraud, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.
Alicia Bell, 44, Kokeythia B. Glover, 24, and Erion Phillips, 22, are charged with a single count of insurance fraud, according to the indictment.
James and Glover additionally are charged with making a false statement.
Kokeythia Glover allegedly rented a U-Haul truck on Sept. 5, 2013, and paid for an accident insurance policy offered through the rental company's insurance carrier, according to the state Insurance Commissioner's office.
While driving the truck, Glover collided with a 1998 BMW owned and driven by James at the intersection of Birch and Patterson streets near Montpelier Avenue.
James then filed an insurance claim for her car. She and her passengers, Pertillo, Kentaurus Taylor and Bernard Taylor pursued claims for injuries from the crash. Phillips and Bell, passengers in the U-Haul also filed claims for their injuries, according to the office.
