Senator Hassan Repeatedly Called for This Important Step Last Year

Congressional Documents & Publications

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement after the Biden administration announced the upcoming reopening of the Affordable Care Act's online marketplace in an effort to ensure that more Americans have access to affordable health care:

"The COVID-19 public health and economic crisis has shined a light on just how important it is that all Granite Staters and Americans have access to comprehensive and affordable health insurance. Reopening the Affordable Care Act's online marketplace is an important step to help ensure that anyone who needs health insurance - including those who have lost their job and the health insurance that went with it - can get it. I am glad that more Granite Staters will soon be able to sign up for health insurance through the marketplace so that they can get the health care that they need, and I look forward to working with the Biden administration and my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to help expand affordable health care coverage to more individuals and families."

Last year, Senator Hassan repeatedly called on the Trump administration to reopen the Affordable Care Act's online marketplace to allow more un- and under-insured Americans to get health insurance as they face potential health issues related to COVID-19. Senator Hassan also hosted a virtual roundtable last October with Granite Staters on the importance of protecting and strengthening the Affordable Care Act.
