Scarlett Johansson, Aisha Tyler, Gabrielle Union Lend their Voices to Planned Parenthood’s Efforts to Educate Uninsured Women About the ACA

Targeted News Service

WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 -- The Planned Parenthood Federation of America issued the following news release:

Actors Scarlett Johansson, Aisha Tyler, and Gabrielle Union have teamed up with Planned Parenthood Federation of America to help encourage Americans to learn about their health insurance options under the Affordable Care Act. Each actor recorded a brief phone message which will be used by Planned Parenthood health centers across the country as part of Planned Parenthood's ongoing effort to help women get enrolled and make informed decisions so they can choose a new insurance plan that works best for them. "Millions of Americans without insurance are now able to enroll in more affordable, quality health insurance plans, but that's if they know that they can, how they should, or what happens if they don't," said Planned Parenthood of Federation President Cecile Richards. "We're grateful that Scarlett Johansson, Aisha Tyler, and Gabrielle Union are lending their voices to help make sure that Planned Parenthood patients learn about the law and how it will benefit them." The recording captures each of the actors asking, "Did you know you may be able to enroll in new, more affordable health insurance plans?" The message continues with information about where people can find more information about the ACA: "For more information about the health care law, the new plans available, and what to consider as a woman when choosing a plan, please visit plannedparenthoodhealthinsurancefacts.org." All three actors are passionate Planned Parenthood supporters who speak out about sexual and reproductive health issues, including breast health, parent/child communication about sex, and access to affordable health care. On October 1, Planned Parenthood launched a national multimedia campaign to help inform and educate millions of uninsured Americans about the benefits and availability of new health insurance plans available for enrollment. The campaign includes online tools and information that will help women get enrolled and make informed decisions so they can choose a new insurance plan that works best for them, including:

In addition to the new suite of tools, the campaign includes educational materials that will be featured in the nearly 750 health centers across the country, neighborhood canvasses, enrollment events, and more.
