Sauk Centre company joins Agents Council for Technology

Feb. 22--SAUK CENTRE -- A Sauk Centre software development company is one of the latest to join a national organization dedicated to advancing industrywide standards for independent insurance agents.

North American Software Associates, 519 Lincoln Road, has partnered with Agents Council for Technology, a program affiliated with the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America.

NASA creates agency management systems for independent insurance agents. Independent insurance agents represent on average a dozen insurance companies.

"An independent agent allows the consumer to choose from a palate of offers," ACT Executive Director Ron Berg said. "They can suggest the best company and best policy for you and can compare."

ACT's role with the IIABA is to advocate for consistent software among independent insurance companies, monitor changes in the industry and provide training.

NASA President Bruce Dickhoff said becoming a member of ACT allows his company to further its footprint among independent insurance agents and become a leader in the niche industry.

"Obviously we have a large customer base in Minnesota," Dickhoff said. "But once (word came out) that we joined ACT we heard back from other (insurance) agencies (wanting to do business with us)."

Because of NASA's small size, Berg said the company will be able to quickly adapt to the changes in the insurance technology industry.

Berg said NASA is "a software vendor who has their finger on the pulse of what small- and medium-sized agencies need. Bottom line is, the partnership helps further our commitment to agents and policyholders by providing them with better tools to assist customers."

NASA was founded in Belgrade by Brian Borgerding in 1982. The company services more than 1,000 agents in 35 states. NASA employs 19 people.
