Sandra C. Stewart, 66, a lifelong resident of Maryland passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Sandy was born in Washington, DC, the only child, of Edwin and Beverly Pearson on January 31, 1950. Sandy met John L Stewart during Junior High School and they were married after high school. She enjoyed ceramics, and traveling especially taking cruises to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands. Sandy also enjoyed spending time at their home in Myrtle Beach, SC as well as spending time with her Grandkids.. Sandra worked as a Postmaster for the U.S. House of Representatives out of the Rayburn Building in Washington, DC. And 20+ years in the Insurance business Sandra was preceded in death by her father Edwin E. Pearson. She is survived by her husband, John Stewart; her mother, Beverly Ann (Gray) Pearson; her son, Lee Stewart of Annapolis, and two daughters, Tammy (Robert Olson) Stewart-Olson of Shrewsbury, MA and Stacey (Robert) Nilson of Annapolis; five grandchildren, Johnathan (Jaci) Stewart, Aaron Stewart, Courtney Nilson, Nicole Olson, and Dalton Olson. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sandy's life on Saturday, October 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 16 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD. In lieu of flowers donations in Sandy's name may be made to either the American Cancer Society, 7500 Greenway Center Drive, Suite 300, Greenbelt, MD 20770, or the American Diabetes Association, Maryland Office, 800 Wyman Park Drive, 1st floor, Baltimore, MD 21211.
