Ryan Township formally adopts 2016 budget

Dec. 16--BARNESVILLE -- Ryan Township property owners will see no increase in their real estate taxes with the formal adoption of the 2016 general operating budget at the Monday supervisors meeting.

The budget of $543,136.54 keeps real estate taxes at 4.125 mills and is very close to the spending plan for 2015. Each mill brings in about $28,000.

The breakdown for general fund expenses that total $327,128 is:

-- Legislative and building -- $76,099

-- Police protection -- $35,371

-- Road department -- $151,658

-- Insurance and miscellaneous -- $64,000

Of the 4.125 mills, 3.5 mills go to the general fund, 0.5 mills go to the fire fund, and 0.125 mills goes to the ambulance and rescue squad fund. The 2016 budget breakdown is:

-- General fund -- $327,128

-- State fund (liquid fuels) -- $103,940.04

-- Refuse disposal fund -- $94,012

-- Fire fund -- $14,455

-- Ambulance and rescue squad fund -- $3,601.50

During the solicitor's report, Christopher Riedlinger said the resolution (2015-6) to set the tax millage was ready for approval and to be advertised. The board voted in favor of the resolution.

"There is no increase in the tax millage from last year," Supervisor Franklin Fetter said before the vote.
