Reports: Lieberman Leading Choice For FBI Director Job
Some politicians said Lieberman would be a stunning choice as a Democrat without longtime experience as a prosecutor or criminal investigator. Some were surprised that Lieberman's name had risen to the top so quickly and said they had not been aware that he emerged as the leading choice.

Blumenthal said the next director could be "a career prosecutor with a distinguished background -- not just any prosecutor. Career criminal justice professional could fit that description."
Blumenthal added, "I'm not limiting it to career prosecutors. I don't want to appear to favor some."
