Rep. Richmond Calls on President Trump to Declare Federal Emergency in Louisiana
Washington, DC - In a letter sent to President Donald Trump, Congressmen Cedric Richmond (LA-02) requested a federal emergency declaration in Louisiana as a result of the tornado damage in New Orleans. This declaration would allow much-needed federal resources to help people recover from severe weather that has damaged homes and businesses:
"There are hard-working American people whose homes and lives have been destroyed through no fault of their own," said Rep. Richmond. "We need the President to declare this emergency so that they can get the support they deserve."
"Declaring a disaster for the people of Orleans Parish would show that the President is serious about his commitment to be a President for all people and fulfill the promise he made in August to be there for the people of Louisiana when they are in need."
