Rep. Arrington Leads Letter to McConnell Urging Action on Healthcare

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 -- Rep. Jodey Arrington, R-Texas, issued the following news release:

Congressman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) led a letter with nearly half of his Republican freshman colleagues, urging the Senate to repeal Obamacare.

"The American people gave our party control of the White House and the Congress based in part on our promise to repeal Obamacare and bring much-needed reform to our health care system," the letter reads.

It points to the "uncontrollable increase in deductibles and premiums" and says repealing Obamacare is the "lynchpin to successfully advancing our conservative agenda," including tax reform.

The members close the letter, stating in-part, "We gave our word to our constituents that we would fight for these principles. Giving up on that promise is not just a political failure, but a moral one as well.... Therefore, we urge the Senate to persist in repealing Obamacare, restoring market forces, and reinstating patient-centered care."

The letter comes nearly 50 days after the Senate's last attempt to repeal Obamacare.
