Pa. Senate Republicans: Senate Republicans Commend House Insurance Committee for Approving Landmark Breast Cancer Legislation

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania, April 25 -- The Pennsylvania Senate Republicans issued the following news release:

Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward (R-39) along with Senate Republican colleagues Sens. John DiSanto (R-15), Tracy Pennycuick (R-24), and Devlin Robinson (R-37) offered their support for Senate Bill 8 as it advanced out of the House Insurance Committee earlier today. Please see below comments:

Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward (R-39)

"Thank you to the House for moving forward with this important legislation that we know will save lives. I know first-hand the importance of genetic testing and supplemental screenings. In fact, had more testing and screening options been covered by insurance when I was diagnosed, my breast cancer may have been caught sooner or I may have considered a different treatment option."

Sen. John DiSanto (R-15)

"I commend House Insurance Committee Chairman Kevin Boyle for his timely consideration of Senate Bill 8. This bipartisan and bicameral cooperation will guarantee women have access to preventive breast cancer screenings without delay or financial burden. I urge the full House to quickly pass this lifesaving legislation and send it to Gov. Shapiro for his signature."
