North Haledon Chiropractor Arrested for Healthcare Claims Fraud and Failure to Pay Taxes

NORTH HALEDON, NJ - A chiropractor is accused of accepting $372,000 in insurance claims for unrendered services and then failing to pay taxes on the funds, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor.
Patrick Capizzi, 69, was arrested on January 9 on one count of second-degree Healthcare Claims Fraud and one count of third-degree Failure to Pay Tax.
On October 26, 2020, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office received a report of inappropriate billing for services from the chiropractic offices of Patrick Capizzi, located in North Haledon.
According to a press release from Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, the investigation revealed Capizzi inappropriately submitted insurance claims for services not performed on patients and received payments in the amount of approximately $372,000. Further investigation revealed that Capizzi failed to make the appropriate tax payments.
If found guilty, Capizzi could face up to five to ten years in New Jersey State Prison on the fraud issue, and an additional three to five years on the tax issue.
Capizzi was processed and released and will be appearing in Central Judicial Processing Court within two weeks. **BULLSEYE
