CONCORD, N.H., June 28 -- The New Hampshire Democratic Party issued the following news release:
Today, Minuteman Health announced that they are seeking a reorganization and planning to provide on and off-market insurance in 2018. Despite this announcement, Governor Sununu opportunistically issued a statement claiming the insurance company was withdrawing from the New Hampshire exchange. Sununu used this false claim to say the the Affordable Care Act "has failed." With a Minuteman reorganization, New Hampshire would maintain four insurance companies on the state exchange.
NHDP Chair Ray Buckley issued the following statement:
"Governor Sununu is seeding department uncertainty in New Hampshire's state exchange while President Trump intentionally undermines our health care system. We expect our leaders to operate in good faith, but it's hard to give them the benefit of the doubt when Trump and Sununu continue to work together to undercut health care for millions of Americans.
It's a governor's responsibility to reassure Granite Staters, work to solve problems, and share accurate information. Sununu has done exactly the opposite, stoking fear about the future of Minuteman insurance and claiming ACA has failed based on misleading information. Governor Sununu could've easily picked up the phone to learn that Minuteman is planning to offer on and off-market insurance in 2018. Instead, he went the lazy route, going with the story that fit his narrative. The governor needs to stop being opportunistic, siding with President Trump, and supporting a health care plan with 27% approval in New Hampshire."
