National Healthcare Provider Retains Prime TSR to Upgrade Hundreds of Servers Prior to July 2019 SQL Server 2008 Support Deadline

Scheduled for completion in June, the massive upgrade effort will include compatibility and performance certification of the company's claims processing and patient facing applications with Microsoft SQL Server 2017 and Microsoft Azure SQL.
This engagement underscores the need for organizations running SQL 2008 to take appropriate measures to upgrade prior to the July deadline in order to reduce exposure to compliance infractions, data loss, and security breaches, which can lead to significant fines, legal penalties and reputational damage. According to Prime TSR, this is a particular concern in heavily regulated industries such as healthcare, where SQL servers may no longer be compliant with Personal Identifiable Information (PII) or HIPPA regulations. For each compliance option, the paper identifies associated costs, time, complexity and risk factors.
