NARAL Pro-Choice America Congratulates Senator Ed Markey on His Victory in the Massachusetts Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate

Today NARAL-endorsed candidate Senator Ed Markey won the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in Massachusetts. Sen. Markey will now advance to the November general election.

In response to Sen. Markey's victory, NARAL Pro-Choice America President Ilyse Hogue released the following statement:

"Securing a pro-choice majority in the Senate is critical to protecting our fundamental freedoms and Senator Markey is the fighter we need to stand up for women and families in the face of relentless attacks from Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and the Radical Right.

"Throughout his time in elected office, Senator Markey has proven his commitment to protecting abortion access and fighting for reproductive freedom. Senator Ed Markey has represented Massachusetts in the U.S. Senate since 2013 where he has been a tireless fighter for reproductive freedom and a staunch defender of abortion rights. He consistently votes against the Trump administration's anti-choice legislation and judicial nominees.
