Napa County Fire Station 220 grand opening set for Saturday
Times-Herald (Vallejo, CA)
Aug. 17--NAPA -- The Napa County Fire Department is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday for its new Fire Station 220, in the Pope Valley area's Berryessa Estates community, county officials announced.
The event, which is open to the public and includes a barbecue and a station tour, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 19, at 2386 Stagecoach Canyon Road, in the Berryessa Estates community.
Attendees include Napa County Board of Supervisors members Belia Ramos, Diane Dillon, who represents the area, and Brad Wagenknecht, Napa County Fire Chief Barry Biermann, Assistant Chief Geoff Belyea, and Pope Valley Station Volunteer Chief Mark Amador, organizers said.
"This station will provide the local residents of Berryessa Estates and Pope Valley Volunteer firefighters with a fire engine to respond to emergencies," Biermann said. "It is our hope that this will also have a positive effect for property owners trying to obtain reasonable home owners insurance."
The project cost about $830,000 and was funded by Napa County Fire Department, officials said.
"In a time of emergency, seconds count," Biermann said. "Having a fire engine within the community with volunteer members of NCFD Station 220 ready to respond, will increase the odds for saving lives and property."
