WASHINGTON, April 10 -- The office of Sen. Christopher Murphy, D-Conn., issued the following news release:
U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) announced on Monday that Flo-Tech of Middletown is this week's "Murphy's Monday Manufacturer." Founded in 1992, Flo-Tech remanufactures and recycles laser printer toner cartridges, and provides printing products and support to customers in the legal, financial services, healthcare, retail, biotech, and education industries. Their clients include J. Crew, Yankee Candle, A&E Network, Subway, Harvard Law School, and 37 of the American Lawyer's top 100 law firms
Flo-tech employs 73 Connecticut workers, and is proud to offer them a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, disability, and life insurance, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan and credit union membership. The Middletown company holds 12 patents and has an additional eight patents pending on their technology.
"I know how important Connecticut's manufacturing industry is to our state's workers and families. That's why I'm doing everything I can to make sure that the federal government prioritizes the purchase of American-made products - like Flo-Tech's remanufactured printer cartridges - over products made by foreign competitors," said Murphy. "I'm looking forward to visiting with the Flo-Tech team later this week and learning how I can continue to help."
Leo Bonetti, CEO of Flo-Tech, said, "I'm proud Connecticut has been our home base for our entire 25 years in business and that we've been able to provide opportunities to all of our Connecticut employees."
The manufacturing industry plays a crucial role throughout Connecticut communities, creating new jobs and accelerating our state's economic recovery. Today, Connecticut's 4,600 manufacturers account for 10% of the state's jobs and 87% of the state's total exports. In order to protect and grow manufacturing jobs in Connecticut, Murphy has introduced two pieces of legislation that aim to strengthen existing standards and prioritize the purchase of American-made goods, the 21st Century Buy American Act and the American Jobs Matter Act.
