Derick W. Adams is responsible for Human Resources strategy and operations. Scott Benson was an urban planner with a strong commitment to real estate development in Southeast Michigan. He has 18 years of experience in commercial real estate, municipal planning, and the community and economic development industries. Hobson has worked in the automotive and supply chain field for 20 years with some of the top companies in the manufacturing and automotive industries.

He is single and is a longtime resident of Southfield. An avid sports fan, he enjoys attending local sporting events, especially his beloved MSU Spartan basketball and football programs. He also enjoys giving back to the community by supporting community service events, speaking with at-risk youths and mentoring young professionals. ALFRED JORDAN

Detroit Municipal Affairs Manager Green for Life Environmental (GFL) USA, Inc.

Alfred (Al) Jordan is a career public servant, working 30 years rising through the ranks from truck driver, retiring group executive with oversite for five Detroit departments with accumulative budgets of $ 170 million. He completed his studies at Baker College in 2001, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Leadership.

With the support of many, Jordan served as an appointee to three Detroit mayors. He still serves with his consulting firm, A JOR-DAN Consulting, LLC in his capacity with Green for Life Environmental (GFL) USA, Inc., as liaison to local community values and quality service. Additionally, he serves on the Spaulding for Children Board of Directors, among others.

Al Jordanand his wife, Rita, have five sons -- Christian, Maurice, John, Marvin and Steven. In addition, they have opened their home for nearly 20 years to numerous foster children, driven by the belief that all children, when given a nurturing environment, can lead productive lives. They currently are raising a foster granddaughter, explaining they are the proud grandparents of 14 and lovingly "claim even more."

MICHAEL JOSEPH

UAW International Representative Vice President, Jimmy Settles Staff

Michael Joseph is a UAW International Representative on special assignment for UAW Vice President Jimmy Settles in digital media. He produces, writes and hosts the UAW-Ford talk show, "Its on the Table." He is a staff photographer and writer for the UAW-Ford Community Magazine and social media platforms. He also produces and hosts UAW Ford podcasts.

Joseph formerly served as the Community Action Programs (CAP) assistant coordinator, communications coordinator, and political and community liaison for UAW Region 1A Director Rory Gamble.

Michael Joseph has been a trailblazer in his career with the UAW and Ford. He was the only African American and longest serving president for the Ford International Newsletters Editors (FINE), which consisted of all Ford Motor Company internal newsletters and publications. He coordinated three of their international conferences. He was also the first African American and longest serving Ford Motor Company communications coordinator

WARDE J. MANUEL

Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics University of Michigan

Warde J. Manuel was named Michigan's Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics on January 29, 2016. His return to Ann Arbor brings him full circle from an accomplished student athlete and athletic administrator at U-M to a distinguished career as an athletic director and back again.

A three-time Michigan alumnus and two-sport athlete who played football under Bo Schembechler, Manuel returned to U-M following a nearly four-year run as director of athletics at the University of Connecticut.

Manuel earned his Bachelor of General Studies with a focus in Psychology in 1990, his master's degree in social work from U-M in 1993 and an MBA from U-M's Stephen M. Ross School of Business in 2005.

In 2015, while serving as director of athletics at the University of Connecticut, Manuel was named NACDA Under Armour Athletic Director of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of America.

Previously he led a 20-sport program at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo from 2005 through 2012.

CHAUNCEY C. MAYFIELD, II

JOHNNY L. MENIFEE

Fire Chief Johnny L. Menifee has served the Soufhfield Fire Department with pride for more than 23 years. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Safety Studies, Master of Science degree in Information Technology with a concentration in Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and is a fire instructor at Oakland Community College, where he is a three-time recipient of Top Instructor awards. Menifee is an active participant in various non-profit work including as a longtime helper for Goodfellows, Shop with a Hero, Axemen Motorcycle Club and Children's ToothFairy Foundation. The chief and his wife also adopt a different organization each year for donations or volunteer work including All Hands Volunteers and All Hands Detroit, Matrix Human Services, Toys for Tots and McLaren's Sister and Sister Fashion show where Chief Menifee danced as a model to raise money for mammograms for underserved women.

His wide variety of interests includes motorcycles, classic cars, and family activities. He has a deep love for God, country and community. He lives in suburban Detroit with his family.

ERIC J. MEANS

Since 1998, Eric J. Means has successfully spurred over a half-billion dollars in transformational economic development -- to today becoming one the upcoming game changing leaders in the industry. H. Keith Mobley is the director of Corporate Contributions & Community Relations for The Auto Club Group. He is responsible for the policy, procedures and guidelines that support corporate philanthropy for The Auto Club Group and its 11 states. During his tenure, he has held several leadership positions.

Currently, he manages the employee Ambassador volunteer program which has resulted in successful community initiatives with strong employee participation. In 2015, he introduced the Career Buddies program to ACG employees who are matched with local high school students. The employees provide academic support, a listening ear and challenge the students to reach for more than they thought possible. The programs success led to a second year with increased employee volunteers and high school students.

Keith H. Mobley's education is in business management with several leadership and insurance certifications. Two of his memberships and affiliations are the Detroit Regional Chamber and the Center for Corporate Citizenship. He is a board member with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, first vice chair for Reading Works and a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestras Classical Roots Committee.

Charley C. Moore, Jr. has spent most of his life in a serving capacity. His r�sum� of service includesserving our country in the Korean War (U.S. Air Force), U. S. Postal Service, Detroit Public Schoolsserving as an attendance agent/truant officer, and Juvenile Court Representative. He has servedas Cub master of Pack 659 and 36 since 1968 and still serves the Boy Scouts of America.He has earned the District Merit Award, Silver Beaver Award and the Charles Whitehead Award.

Moore spends his time mentoring young men in the scouting program as the scouting coordinator athis church. His work continues in to his community where he has served as block club president from 1966 to the present, Joseph Tireman Community Council Parade coordinator, and founder of the Yankee Baseball Organization (Little League) from 1970 to the present. He is a charter member of the Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL), a member of the usher board and member of the Ministry to Men at Carter CME Church.

He has been married to Evelyn Thornton Moore for over 60 years and they have two sons and three grandchildren.

Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach River Rouge School District

Corey Parker has served as the dean of students, athletic coordinator and head football coach of the River Rouge School District since 2009. His career has been centered around the growth and social development of young men from metro Detroit. He attended Eastern Michigan University where he was a three-year varsity letterman in football.

Since Parker's arrival, there has been a surge of excitement about River Rouge Schools. His usage and studies of restorative practices has helped transcend the young people in the district by creating a level of trust, expectation and relationships that go beyond the punitive concepts of student code of conduct theories.

Parker's passion for football lead him to take leadership roles among the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association as a regional director in addition to being the president of the National Single Wing Coaches Association. As a football coach, he has won over 60 games, but he especially prides himself on sending his student athletes to college and monitoring their continued success as young African-American men.

Charles Nolen is a serial entrepreneur with a focus on creating businesses that enhance the lifestyle of metro Detroit residents. He is the proud owner of Cutter's Bar & Grill and Butcher's Inn located in Eastern Market.

Nolen graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1993 with a Bachelor's in Facilities Management. He's also a 2014 alumni of the Golden Sachs 10K Small Business Program and has an strong background in leading, supporting and improving business processes. When he purchased Cutter's, the business was ready to close its doors and now a decade later, it is a thriving restaurant considered by many to be the "Cheers" of the city.

He has a masters degree in Urban Planning with a concentration in Economic Development from Wayne State University in and a B.A. in Organizational Communications from St. Mary's College in Orchard Lake, Michigan. William (Bill) Sherron is one of the owners of Vicksburg Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram. The dealership is the largest Chrysler franchise in Kalamazoo and the largest minority owned Chrysler franchise in Michigan.

After his 10-year ownership of Grocery Delivery Service, a supermarket and drug store supplier, he sold the company and entered the banking technology field. He served three years as the CFO of Xytec International before being recruited by Ford Motor Company's Dealer Development in 1998.

After graduating from the Ford program, Sherron became a prominent business consultant for "at risk" dealers and led many dealerships to profitability. He worked with a number of manufacturers including Ford, Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Honda and Mercedes before his ownership role in Vicksburg.

He is a native of Detroit and attended St. Benedict, U of D Jesuit and Cass Technical High School. He graduated with distinction from the University of Michigan as well as completed the Tuck Executive Program at Dartmouth.

Sherron gives his time to mentoring students at Western Michigan University and Eastern Michigan University. He also supports charitable and community programs which include Big Brothers Big Sisters, Legacy Ball, Comprehensive Cancer Center -Breast Cancer Research and Habitat for Humanity.

DR. TOLULOPE SONUYI

Emergency Medicine Physician Detroit Medical Center

Tolulope Sonuyi works as an emergency medicine physician and assistant professor for the Detroit Medical Center and Wayne State University, respectively. After graduating from UCLA, he came to Michigan where he obtained his medical degree at the University of Michigan and completed residency training at Henry Ford Hospital. As an emergency medicine physician at Sinai-Grace Hospital, Dr. Sonuyi applied his belief in the ability of the Emergency Department and the community to be able to work in concert to address the ills that render communities unhealthy and in distress.

After taking note of the alarming recurring cycle of violence seen in the ER with Detroit's young adult population, Dr. Sonuyi developed the states first hospital-based violence intervention program, Detroit Life is Valuable Everyday (DLIVE). DLlVE's work is rooted in addressing violence with a health-centered approach - an approach that is designed to improve individual and community health by implementing innovative strategies for preventing repeat injury, death, and incarceration.

DLIVE's impact in transforming trauma has not gone without notice as they were recently featured on a Detroit Public TV, Michigan Public Radio and have received awards on a local and state level. To date, there have been no repeat injuries for any DLIVE members as many are now engaged in activity to reduce the risk of recurrent injury.

ANDR� L. SPIVEY

Councilman, District 4 City of Detroit

Andr� L. Spivey serves on the Detroit City Council, having first been elected citywide in November of 2009. He was re-elected in 2013 and serves as the Councilperson for District Four. He currently serves as chair of the Internal Operations Committee and is a member of the Neighborhood Services Committee. In addition to his committee assignments, he co-chairs the Black Male Engagement Taskforce and the Immigration Taskforce. He also represents the City Council on the Detroit Zoological Society Board of Directors.

A native of Detroit and graduate of Cass Technical High School, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehouse College in Atlanta, a Master of Divinity degree from Colgate Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, New York, and a Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University.

In addition to his city duties, he is currently serving in his 13th year as the pastor of St. Paul A.M.E. Church.

Andr� Spivey has been married since 2000 to Shema Spivey. They have two children, a son, Andr� II, and a daughter, Kendall.

MICHAEL A. STEINBACK

Executive Director Detroit CARES Mentoring Movement

Michael A. Steinback has devoted a lifetime to business management and community service. A native of San Francisco and graduate of Santa Clara University, his corporate career includes management positions in economic development, commercial bank lending, construction risk management and small business consulting. He has blended that experience with his expertise in civic engagement, deliberative dialogue, wellness training, leadership development, and strategic planning to provide a more comprehensive service to communities.

Steinbeck moved to Detroit to become executive director of Detroit CARES Mentoring Movement, an affiliate of National CARES, which works to recruit and support African-American mentors for children. Detroit CARES administers mentoring programs for teen parents and 11th and 12th graders to mentor 9th graders. He is also director of Enterprise and Risk Management for the Julian C. Madison Building. This building is a Detroit landmark and one of the few black-owned and operated commercial office buildings in downtown Detroit.

Steinbeck is a current and former member of several national and international public policy boards. His work has benefited community engagement activities throughout the United States and Kenya.

JESSE THOMAS

CEO Harbor Health Plan

Jesse Thomas has played key roles in health care for nearly 30 years. Today, he serves as the CEO of Harbor Health Plan in Detroit and serves 10,000 members in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.

Thomas is committed to championing wellness. He is pursuing innovative approaches that will allow Harbor Health to integrate behavioral and physical health services within their managed care system.

Previously, Thomas was CEO of InHealth Mutual and President of WellCares South Division where he served Georgia, Texas and Louisiana. Before that, he was President of Molina Healthcare where he led Ohio and Michigan.

Over the course of Thomas' career, he also worked in education, business, and public service and built exceptional strengths in governance, leadership, and business development. He boasts an impressive track of helping organizations demonstrate maximum value to their stakeholders and community through successful and cost-effective management.

Apart from his executive career, Jesse has been involved in public and community service positions, lending his leadership with an emphasis on community and faith-based approaches. Thomas and his family reside in Canton.

JOHN J.F. THORNE

Executive Director

Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance

John J.E Thorne is the executive director of the Detroit Catholic Pastoral Alliance, a local community development corporation located on the east side of Detroit. In this role, he has been charged with creating and sustaining its various program including the affordable housing program. Since moving to the Gratiot Woods Neighborhood, the Alliance has worked tirelessly to bring new life in to the neighborhood with its development of single family and mixed-use affordable housing.

Thorne's professional career started at the University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Academy. He then went to the Archdiocese of Detroit where he made history by becoming the youngest director of Black Catholic Ministries in the United States at the age of 30. He also is pastoral associate and minister of music at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Detroit, under the leadership of Fr. Norman P. Thomas. He recently celebrated 30 years in the music ministry and has taken his choir on tours throughout the country.

John J.F. Thorne, a graduate of Central State University, has a son, John II.

MODDIE TURAY

Moddie Turay is the executive vice president of Real Estate and Finance for the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation (DEGC). He serves as the head of the Real Estate and Financial Services department leading commercial, industrial, and retail development citywide. In this role he acts as chief dealmaker in coordinating the disposition of commercial properties with various city departments, including the Detroit Building Authority, the Detroit Land Bank Authority, Planning Department and the Mayors Office, and directs public and private investments to major development projects/programs across the city.

Prior to joining DEGC, Turay was president of Moddie Turay Company, a real estate development firm focused on mixed-use residential, retail, office and hotel development initiatives. He also has served as a member of the senior executive team in the Public Building Services Regional Commissioners' Office of the National Capital Region of the U.S. General Services Administration.

KENNETH WATKINS

Kenneth Watkins is an accomplished trial attorney and senior shareholder with Sommers Schwartz, where he represents clients harmed as a result of medical malpractice, premises liability, birth trauma and other forms of negligence. He has obtained numerous multimillion-dollar case resolutions including a recent $2.5 million verdict in Ingham County and five case setdements at or above $1 million within the past 12 months.

Because of the level of his effectiveness, accomplishments and superior ethical reputation, he was recently invited for fellowship in the Litigation Counsel of America, a highly selective Trial Lawyer Honorary Society.

Outside of the practice, Watkins gives back to the community in many ways. Elder Fred A. Westbrook was born and raised in the City of Detroit. After years of drug addiction, Fred was set totally free to serve the Lord and re-joined Faith Tabernacle Church in 1989.

Elder Westbrook was ordained to the office Elder in March, 1996. He served as head of the Men's Ministry of Faith Tabernacle Church for more than 12 years. Elder Westbrook has served as Lead Elder since 2010 and is Chief Adjutant to Bishop V. Ricardo Thomas, Sr.

Elder Westbrook began his career with the City of Detroit in 1986. He was first elected Union Steward before serving three terms as Board Member at Coolidge Terminal beginning in 2001. In 2013 he was elected as President/ Business Agent of ATU Local 26 and is presently serving his second term in that position.

Elder Westbrook is skilled in conflict resolution, negotiating, grievance handling, parliamentary procedures, arbitration, organizing and mobilization and is a 2004 graduate of WSU Labor Studies Center and has recently accepted the WSU Labor Studies Center 2016 Labor Education Warriors Award

KURT WILDER

Justice Kurt Wilder was appointed to the Michigan Supreme Court in May of 2017 after serving on the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Washtenaw County Trial Court. He received his A.B. in Political Science from the University of Michigan, then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan's Law School. He gained experience practicing law while with the firms of Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C. and Butzel Long, PC. Formerly serving as a member of the Model Criminal Jury Instruction Committee, the Family Division Joint Rules Committee, and the Family Court Implementation Task Force.

Justice Wilder is also active in many civic and philanthropic endeavors, such as serving on the board of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation, and Interlochen Center for the Arts and is an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth.

SHAUN W. WILSON

Senior Vice President Truscott Rossman, Detroit Office

Shaun Wilson is a seasoned strategic marketing and communications professional with more than 20 years of experience working with metro Detroit's top organizations, companies and firms. He currently heads the Detroit office for Truscott Rossman, a statewide full-service public relations/public affairs firm with offices in Detroit, Lansing and Grand Rapids.

Formerly, he was chief of staff-vice president, director of client and community relations for The PNC Financial Services Group. Wilson was also vice president, marketing manager for the former National City Bank in Southeast Michigan.

Early in his career, Wilson led a Detroit-based, joint-venture strategic public relations and marketing firm that represented top Detroit-area companies and institutions.

He holds a bachelors degree in Public Relations from Wayne State University and serves on numerous boards across the Detroit region including Cranbrook Institute of Science, Detroit Parent Network, Detroit Public Television, Mariners Inn, Michigan's Children, Michigan Strategic Fund (MEDC), Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts and the Sphinx Organization.

Wilson served eight years in the U.S. Marines and has earned numerous awards, recognitions and accolades throughout his career.

ROGER YOPP

Co-Founder, Co-Owner Savannahblue

Roger Yopp is co-founder and co-owner of Savannahblue restaurant in downtown Detroit, which was picked as one of the Top 10 New Restaurants in Detroit by the Detroit Free Press. He is also the CFO and business manager for Heidelberg Dermatology where he is responsible for overseeing and directing the organization's high level financial processes as well as managing day to day financial activities. Formerly, he was co-founder, owner and operational manager for Lola's, a successful downtown eatery that operated in Harmonie Park for several years.

Yopp was also the co-founder of Diversified Entertainment Group, a production and artist management company that represented acts in the music and television industries, and also served as executive producer on several recording projects for major labels. He started his career as a design engineer, spending 12 years with Bell Laboratories in Denver and Middletown, New Jersey.

A graduate of Cass Technical High school, Roger Yopp attended Texas Southern University on a football scholarship and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering Technology. He was awarded a patent for work on a project for the Department of Defense and has received numerous industry and corporate awards. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and is active in the church.
