Liberty Mutual Insurance in Keene to transfer 16 jobs to Portsmouth
Keene Sentinel (NH)
Feb. 16--Liberty Mutual Insurance in Keene will transfer 16 positions to its Portsmouth office in the coming months, a company spokesman said.
All of the positions are full-time jobs in commercial insurance operations, and the employees have been notified, according to Richard Angevine, a public relations consultant for Liberty Mutual.
The jobs will move in about 90 days, and employees will have the opportunity to follow them to the Seacoast, according to Angevine.
Employees who don't stay with Liberty Mutual will receive severance packages and assistance in finding their next job, Angevine said.
Approximately 350 people work at the Liberty Mutual office on Maple Avenue, Angevine said.
The transfer is part of an effort to centralize the department, which he said will better meet the needs of the company's customers.
"While this move will improve our ability to meet the needs of customers, we do not overlook the impact it has on Liberty Mutual employees and their families," Angevine wrote in an emailed statement. "We intend to minimize job loss by encouraging employees to pursue opportunities in other Liberty Mutual operations locally or elsewhere in our company."
