Lafayette County seeks health insurance proposals

May 02-- May 2--MAYO -- The Lafayette County Board of County Commissioners voted to advertise request proposals for the county's health insurance at last week's meeting.

Commissioner Lance Lamb said it would be fair to the county and the insurance agents to advertise every three years.

He said it has been three years so he believed the county should advertise.

Fred Bean, of Benecon Health Administration Consulting, and Melanie Stegall, of Brown & Brown Insurance, did a presentation on the county's current insurance plan.

Lance Braswell, of Lafayette County Farm Bureau, said he was interested in presenting an alternative to the county.

The county will hold a meeting on Tuesday, May 28, at 4 p.m. to go over the proposals.
