Kingsland earns floodplain management honor

The city of Kingsland announced its successful application to the National Flood Insurance Program's (NFIP) Community Rating System (CRS). The Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) confirmed that the city's voluntary efforts go above and beyond the minimum standards of the NFIP, warranting a CRS Class 8 rating.

The verification from FEMA means the community qualifies for a noteworthy 10% discount on the cost of flood insurance premiums for most NFIP policies issued or renewed on or after Oct. 1. Submitted by the city of Kingsland
