Juniper Re, LLC Welcomes Russ Wagner as Head of Facultative Reinsurance

U.S. Markets via PUBT

TAMPA, Fla.-September 9, 2024 - Juniper Re, LLC ("Juniper Re"), the dynamic reinsurance broking arm of The Baldwin Group, is pleased to announce the hiring of Russ Wagner as Head of Facultative. Russ will spearhead Juniper Re's strategic entry into the facultative reinsurance space, bringing decades of leadership and expertise to the company. This marks yet another significant milestone for Juniper Re, which has been on a rapid growth trajectory since its founding in 2023.

Russ joins Juniper Re with more than 30 years of industry experience, most recently serving as Senior Vice President at Aspen Insurance Group, where he oversaw the North American Property Treaty and Facultative portfolio. His exceptional track record of driving profitable growth, leading high-performing teams, and launching successful reinsurance divisions makes him a key addition to Juniper Re as the firm continues to expand its reach and capabilities.

Jeff Irvan, President of Juniper Re, expressed his excitement about this appointment: "We are thrilled to have Russ join our team and lead our entry into the facultative space. His deep understanding of how to structure deals and approach risk aligns perfectly with Juniper's values. In facultative, it's all about perspectives-what can seem like a roadblock for one market can be a breakthrough for another, depending on how it's approached. Russ's leadership will ensure we don't just offer facultative as a one-size-fits-all solution but work collaboratively across all disciplines to find the best outcome for our clients. With Russ at the helm, I'm confident our growth story is just beginning."

Russ Wagner shared his own enthusiasm about joining Juniper Re and leading the facultative initiative: "I am thrilled to be a part of Juniper Re. The company's commitment to authenticity, innovation, and teamwork aligns perfectly with my approach to the industry. Facultative reinsurance requires a nuanced approach, where the right solution comes from seeing problems from multiple angles and working together across disciplines. Juniper's 'one-team' mentality is exactly how I've always believed reinsurance should operate. I look forward to helping drive innovative, tailored solutions that will support our clients in navigating today's complex and fluid risk landscape, whether the ultimate outcome is a facultative placement or other form of risk transfer."

Juniper Re's entry into the facultative space builds on the company's success and growth over the last year since its founding. This announcement follows other strategic moves by Juniper Re, including the recent hiring of Nick Pewter, who is leading the firm's entrance into the parametric space, and Chris Hayward as Head of Bermuda operations. With Russ Wagner leading the facultative division, Juniper Re is set to further enhance its ability to meet clients' needs in this evolving market.
