Is National Flood Insurance Program Off the Chopping Block? [Government Technology]
Government Technology
Jan. 31—Property and hazard insurance is heating up as a topic with elected officials at every level of government. This is a good article: "Is National Flood Insurance Program Off the Chopping Block?"
It gives an inkling to how "the worm may have turned" in that there were no calls to eliminate the program. As more storms impact more people and many of those storms produce flooding, citizens are calling on their government to protect them — sometimes from themselves, based on where they live.
Watch for more legislative engagement on the topic of insurance availability, the cost of insurance and then should people be responsible for the risks they take based on where they live. Or, should others help pay for their risk-taking?
