InsureMyTrip: Demand for Travel Insurance for Mexico Spikes

Demand for travel insurance for trips to Mexico continues to grow, according to a new data report from InsureMyTrip.

In its release, the company said that Mexico topped the list of most popular international destinations for US travelers purchasing comprehensive travel insurance in 2014. Italy and United Kingdom rounded out the top three.

The US Department of Commerce also reports an increase in travel to Mexico. In 2014, roughly 25 million US travelers visited the country, up 22 percent from 2013. Travel over the border was also a significant contributor to overall Mexico performance from March through December. U.S. air travel to Mexico (6.9 million) was up 11 percent.
