Idaho Department of Insurance Announces Deputy Director Trexler

BOISE, Idaho, Oct. 30 -- The Idaho Department of Insurance issued the following news release:

The Idaho Department of Insurance is pleased to announce our new Deputy Director, Weston Trexler.

Effective on September 22, 2019, Weston Trexler (Wes) became the Department's Deputy Director. Wes was hired to the Department as the Product Review Bureau Chief-Actuary in October 2012, and he's been instrumental in the Department's and the Governor's past efforts to make health insurance more affordable and accessible--always being responsive to the needs of Idahoans.

With his extensive background along with his thoughtful and measured approach, Wes has gained the respect of those both inside and outside the Department.

Professional Background

Weston Trexler served as Product Review Bureau Chief and Actuary for the Idaho Department of Insurance since 2012. In that role he oversaw the review of all insurance product forms and rates submissions to the Department, evaluating health, Medicare supplement, long-term care, and other insurance rates for actuarial soundness and compliance.

Mr. Trexler has been involved with health care policy projects and issues for the Department, including the impacts of the Affordable Care Act and other regulations.

Prior to Wes's work for the Department, he worked at the actuarial consulting firm Milliman, with a focus on the funding, valuation and development of large employers' medical and other employee or retiree benefit plans. Before that, Wes worked for a health insurance company with responsibilities in evaluating the impact of provider networks and pharmacy contracts.
