Hours expanded at area flood disaster centers

Observer-Dispatch (Utica, NY)

Hours of availability at the Disaster Assistance Services Centers in the Mohawk Valley have been expanded to provide recovery services to residents affected by the Halloween storm.

The following centers will remain open and operate between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. through the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 12:

Herkimer County

• Newport Fire Department - 7370 Main St., Newport

• Dolgeville Municipal Hall - 41 North Main St., Dolgeville

• Frankfort Town Hall Basement - 201 3rd Ave., Frankfort

• Additionally, the State Department of Financial Services Mobile Command Center has been deployed to the Mohawk Valley to provide insurance assistance to affected residents. The Mobile Command Center is located at the Town of Newport Fire Department and will be open between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Sunday, Nov. 10. Residents not able to visit the Mobile Command Center can call the Department's Disaster Hotline at 800-339-1759 from 8:30 am to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for help with insurance related issues.

Oneida County

• SUNY Polytechnic Institute - 100 Seymour Ave., Utica

• Whitesboro Fire Department - 171 Oriskany Blvd., Whitesboro

Additional assistance

According to Kathy Fox from the Herkimer County Office for the Aging, additional recovery help is available at the following locations on select days:

Herkimer County

• Newport Fire Department - 7370 Main St. in Newport from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 (last registration is at 5:30 p.m.).

• Dolgeville Volunteer Fire Department - 20 S. Helmer Ave. in Dolgeville from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 (last registration at 3:30 p.m.).

Oneida County

• Willowvale Fire Department - 3459 South Oneida St. in Chadwicks from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 (last registration at 7:30 p.m.).

• Parkway school - 65 Oriskany Blvd. in Whitesboro from noon to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 (last registration at 7:30 p.m.).
